Movie Reviews of The Song of Bernadette

Movie Review: The Song of Bernadette
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie had a deep and profound impact on me when I first watched it on television as a young teen. It is beautifully done a real tribute to film making. The acting is outstanding and I fully believed and empathized with young Bernadette as portrayed by Jennifer Jones. I was a protestant at the time I first watched the movie. The effect it had on me sent me on a journey that eventually lead me to Medjugorje and then to becomimg Catholic. I strongly would recommend this film to everyone. It is beautiful, moving, very touching, a profound experience for all who have an open heart.

Movie Review: Freedom of Religion
Summary: 5 Stars

Regardless of your religious beliefs, you will be exceedingly impressed when a poor, sickly, young girl sees a beutiful lady in a grotto and is never sick again. A miricle and the beautiful lady is supposed to be the Virgin Mary - well, maybe. Having viewed this beautiful lady, a spring suddenly bursts forth from the rock; the waters seem to have some magical power if you bath in them. Needless to say, this brings forth all of the bigots, the nay sayers, and non-believers in the nation; but,
it leaves Bernadette unimpressed as she pursues her simple life.

Movie Review: It`s the best of its kind:-)
Summary: 5 Stars

...with Carl Th. Dreyer`s tale of the maiden from Orleans - Joan of Arc filmed in 1928.

The compaision is unavoidable. But Bernadette, played by Jennifer Jones, has a charm all her own. I was a bit reluctant to see this, but it is a lush production with the best of talents at their best. It`s an eternal holiday-classic. It has the ingredients of why I love old films....(from an era when u felt that u may learn something from watching certain films and the stars and productions created magic that were larger than life)

Movie Review: A great movie not many seem to know about!
Summary: 5 Stars

I first saw this movie late one night on AMC and thought it was going to be the kind of show that would try to spoonfeed me religious dogma and convert me to a particular spiritual point of view. Not at all. This is an incredible movie that presents a young woman's claim of seeing the virgin Mary in a very realistic, objective way. A friend of mine who isn't religious at all watched this film and loved it. Check out this seemingly forgotten movie about faith, persistence, and tolerance. One of the best films I have ever seen.

Movie Review: Just a great story of faith and courage!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of my favorite movies. The story of a French peasant girl who sees a vision of the Virgin Mary in a garbage filled groto and the subsequent firestorm that is created by her vision; doubt by some of her family members, the community and the powers that be in this small French village are immense, even the Catholic heirarchy initially denies this girls vision, but, and this is the best part of the film, Bernadette Soubouris' undying faith and belief in what she has seen!

A great family picture!
