Movie Reviews of The Shield: Season Six

Movie Review: The working man's Sherlock Holmes, for The Farm
Summary: 5 Stars

Betrayed by the men he has trusted, distrusted by his superiors, when it's third and long, everyone looks at Vic Mackey and says, "Do what needs to be done, and don't let me know what you did, or how you did it."

In Season Six, Vic demonstrates why his strategy game has been reduced to survival, but his tactical game is the best in the world.

Everyone has been after him, and the wolves are finally closing in.

That's bad news - for the wolves.

Chiklis is simply brilliant as the "Go To Guy" we've all worked with, and lived in awe of.

At work, I was asked for the difference between Boys and Men.

I said, "You see Boys all around you, in the bodies of men. You want to see what a real man does, when it's third and long, and his family is at stake, watch Vic Mackey."

The Farm is NOT Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood, and Vic Mackey is NOT Mr. Rogers.

Thank God!

Movie Review: Another great season
Summary: 5 Stars

Originally Season 6 was supposed to be the 2nd half of Season 5, but FX split the season in half. So, make sure you've watched season 5 and remember it before starting 6. In fact, given how many old characters and storylines this season pulls back into the forefront, you'll enjoy it more if you've recently rewatched all the seasons.

The DVDs themselves are fine, the only complaint I have is that there isn't an option to watch the full episodes with the deleted scenes edited back in where they would have appeared. Instead you have to watch them on their own, out of context.

Movie Review: The Shield - The Complete Sixth Season: A great buy!
Summary: 5 Stars

This product is a great buy, but only for the true Shield enthusiast. The events that unfold are inextricably linked with the past seasons, making it one of the most dramatic seasons yet. Thus if you are in no hurry to own The Shield and can wait for a box set collection to come out after the end of this year's final season (7), you may want to purchase that. I had to order all 6 seasons individually off of here, and I promise a box set would look unbelievably on the mantel. However, if you're squared away with the past seasons, I say spend the money and buckle up for some intense TV.

Movie Review: WHEW WHEW
Summary: 5 Stars

THIS IS A SHOW THAT LEAVES ME TIRED AFTER EACH EPISODE.THERE IS SO MUCH GOING ON. THE END OF EACH SHOW IS A CLIFF HANGER. I SAW IT ON FX BUT WHEN YOU BUY THE DVD YOU CAN SEE SO MUCH STUFF THAT YOU MISSED. THE EXTRAS ARE ALSO INFORMATIVE. THE OUT TAKES ARE SOME TIMES FUNNY. I RECALL IN SEASON 2,3 OR 4 THE EXCUTIVE PRODUCERS FATHER WAS IN A EPISODE BUT THE PART HE WAS IN ENDED UP ON THE ON THE CLIPPING ROOM FLOOR. HIS FATHER SAID AT LEAST I GOT PAID. I WILL BE VERY SORRY WHEN THIS NON STOP ACTION SHOW GO OFF
WHEW MAKES ME TIRED THINKING ABOUT THE ACTION.

Movie Review: no wonder a James Ellroy Rampart movie is in production
Summary: 5 Stars

I'd caught a few random episodes but this season's opener was the one which decided me to get into it properly. By now the lead characters are turning on each other so viciously that offering protection to Armenian gangsters seems an easy way out. The fetid locations make me think that choosing your freeway exit in LA must be like Russian roulette. Makes me believe that this is how bent cops work, this is why the system needs them. (BTW you can find the Rampart movie in IMDB.)
