Movie Reviews of The Sea Hawk

Movie Review: very cool movie
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie , as old as it is still has the story behind it to give you the sense of drama, and action it was intended. If you are a fanatic for special effects and high tech action this movie will not be for you. But if you are into a good story, justice, adventure and well acted movies from hollywood's past glory days, and leading men who had spirit, and leading ladies who were true ladies in the sense of vulnerability and passion, this one is for you.

Movie Review: Classic Vintage Hollywood Adventure
Summary: 5 Stars

"The Sea Hawk" is one of the great adventure films from the Golden Age of Hollywood. Solid film making all around: great cast, outstanding cinematography, rousing Korngold score. The DVD transfer is virtually pristine for a 1940 film. The Panamanian scenes change from the traditional B&W and play in a softer sepia tone which adds another dimension to the movie. My only disappointment is the lack of extras, specifically a commentary.

Movie Review: The Sea Hawk
Summary: 5 Stars

Along with "Captain Blood" (1935), this is the quintessential Errol Flynn swashbuckler: a good old-fashioned sword-fest, with plenty of intrigue and derring-do. Joined by character players Claude Rains, Donald Crisp and Flora Robson (superb as the Queen), "Hawk" remains an exhilarating experience, with a lusty Erich Korngold score and incredible sets (two full-size ship replicas were built for the production). Bracing as the sea air.

Movie Review: In Magnificent Black and White!
Summary: 5 Stars

A true swashbuckler, with all the necessary elements - slavery, abeautiful woman who gets seduced by goodness, the best swordsman in all England and the Seven Seas! All in glorious B&W!

And all of the necessary cliche's: Swinging on ropes to borad the enemy ships; the betrayal by a royal insider, the escape, and one of the best sword fights ever filmed!

Hooray for Michael Curtiz!

Movie Review: GREAT FUN! It doesn't get any better.
Summary: 5 Stars

It is great fun and entertainment. You don't have to look for any hidden messages or opinions. You can just enjoy the action and humor. Kids can view it without parents worrying about content. The violence is minimal and is not graphic.

My recommendation is to buy it and enjoy it.
