Movie Review: This might sound biased coming from a Gondry fan, but...

I think the reason why some people gave this low ratings at IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes is that they can't whether the movie is in the dream-state of the protagonist's mind or in reality although I was able to tell a few scenes where it was in real life. Sometimes that's the way it is though. Sometimes there's moments in your life where it just seems surreal. And I think that's one thing that this movie was trying to point out. As usual, Gondry's wonderful visual effects were used in this movie and I think the cast generally meshed together in the movie. There are some scenes I want to mention, but I don't want to spoil the movie for those who haven't seen it yet.Movie Review: Making Dreamland Real for Love

Michel Gondry is the master of creating surreal landscapes using simple elements to weave a story of tenderness and warmth. An imaginary tv show set complete with a cardboard city for backdrop with Gael Garcia Bernal mixing up the dream elements in a pan suggests the innocence and folly of dreams. The love story between Bernal and the neighbor Charlotte Gainsbourgh is made from each others dreams and the possibilities and pitfalls of falling in love. I recommend this movie highly. Its a carefree falling in love romp filled with incredibly rich media woven from everyday objects to be a magic kingdom where anything is possible.Movie Review: Inventively fun

"The Science of Sleep" is like no other film I've seen. Blending reality and fantasy into a seamless thread, director Michel Gondry has produced a gem. The cast is uniformly good and is headed by the appealing Gael García Bernal, in a role as Stéphane, for which he seems destined. He makes the film what it is with an abundance of humor and pathos.
The visual effects are among the best the industry has to offer and the childlike "Alice in Wonderland" quality of the film is superb. It is well-paced and engrossing at every turn. I highly recommend "The Science of Sleep" for its creativity and charm.

I think, the phrase "Close your eyes, open your heart" describes this movie very well, as there is no real plot or story line in it. But it is very relaxing to watch it, especially, when you are not distracted by anything. It also has a very European feel to it - the manners of characters, their gestures and facial expressions, the whole atmosphere is very European, in my opinion. "Science of Sleep" is a very romantic movie with an open ending, which I beleive is also good, because it gives you room for thought and imagination. Thank the heavens for a film like this. You cant be a snob when it comes to your own imagination with this film. The acting is touching, and realistic to the point it can be in a movie like this. The visuals and sounds and the beauty of the whole plot is just fantastic. I have now seen this movie 3 times, I just cant get enough. It is extremely witty if you understand the humor. I hope people who think they might not like it give it a chance.
