One of the most entertaining and fantastic movies ever made! I bought this years ago when my children were very young (only available in VHS). This tape had been played over & over again & we (including my children) have introduced this wonderful film to all their friends & family over the years. Frequently we recite to each other some of the most entertaining and humorous lines..."Sink me". This is a MUST SEE movie... It includes: swashbuckling, political, history, intrigue, masquerading, history, fun, and huge laughter! Do yourself a big favor, don't miss this movie, you won't regret it I promise.

We saw this movie many years ago when a friend loaned a VHS tape to us. I have checked Amazon multiple times over the years for this title, but it was never available. Recently I checked again, and to my great surprise and delight, Amazon had it on DVD. I ordered it right away, and already we have enjoyed it a couple of times. It's a totally fun movie for those who enjoy that genre of movies. It reminds me of Pride and Prejudice. There's some unexpected twists and turns, and of course, the good guys win, without all the gratuitous blood and gore found in so many movies today.Movie Review: One of the best movies ever made

There is only one word that can describe this movie. EXCELLENT! This is one of those movies that you sit down expecting it to be pretty good and when it is done you are left with a smile on your face. You are left with the sense that you have to watch it over and over again. Antony Andrews is fabulous in this movie and really captures the true character of Sir Percy. Jayne Seymour is charming, beautiful, and lovable. Both actors could not have created a more romantic atmosphere, which is essential to the story. This delightful movie/TV rendition of "The Scarlet Pimpernel" is made great by stellar performances by Jane Seymore and Anthony Andrews. Ian McClellan is wonderful as the 'villan'. Anyone interested in historical novels will love it, the humor, action and romance are priceless. Costumes and settings are quite authentic and add glamor to the story. I first saw this on television MANY years ago and I have always remembered it. When I saw I could acquire the DVD from Amazon, I jumped at the chance. The Scarlet Pimpernel in and of itself is an adventurous tale encircling the hero Sir Percy Blakeney and his role as the Scarlet Pimpernel. Add to this tale the talent of Anthony Andrews, Jane Seymour, and Ian McKellen and you have a thrilling movie that will not disappoint the viewer. The acting in this version of the film brings each character to life. The love between Percy and Marguerite in this version of the film seems genuine and intense. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has taken the time to view this page... it is a classic!
