Movie Reviews of The River WildMovie Review: Psychological Thrill Ride Summary: 5 Stars
The adrenaline rush that comes from this movie really does not compare to many other adventure movies, in the sense that Curtis Hanson Keys into the human instinct of survival. Building upon themes found in the movie Deliverance, Hanson slowly strips away the elaborate city lives of the individual characters and sets them foth as animals in a stunningly beautiful landscape. Such a wonderful psychological experiment alone would be worth the dvd, but the scenery, and cinemetography are spectacular. What makes this movie, though, a classic, above all is the CHARACTERIZATION. The reality of this movie is brought to us by the characters. A viewer may easilly get the feeling that them or a neighbor of theirs could have easilly been put in this story and that makes you feel that much more for the characters. The fears, the paranioa, the abolute lunge for survival race not only on the screen but through your very own blood. This movie is an experience that every active mind should have the pleaure of ingulging in, and I hope that you are able to experience this classic on DVD, because it is truly a masterful creation.
Movie Review: The river is your heroic ally Summary: 5 Stars
A beautiful film about the Colorado River. The hero is the river and the nature it crosses, the gorges and the rapids and the falls. And you will go down the river in a light boat. Beautiful indeed. Then the film sets a plot on that river of a nice vacationing family held hostage by the surviving thieves of a cattle auction robbery who try to escape the police after the robbery by using the river and the expertise of the mother of this family. This adds some family tension with a father who is working too hard as an architect and neglecting, in a way, his family, and yet he will save his wife and his son from the grip of the thieves after having escaped them before. Courage, for sure, tenacity definitely. And the beauty of this river all over and always. This plot is multiplying the beauty of the river just as if it took a lot of courage for the river itself to go down this valley and its gorges.

Movie Review: The River Wild: A movie worth watching!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I saw this movie a year or two ago and wanted to watch it again and again. I have only been able to find it on the internet. Meryl Streep (Gail) portrays a former river rafting guide. She decides to take her family on a white-water rafting trip for her son and to try and save her marriage with her husband that is hanging by a thread. They meet up with a couple of strangers that seem to be in trouble. Gail offers to help them down the river. But what she thought were two helpless men, turn out to be criminals and take over the family. They have to band together to outsmart the crooks. It is a very good movie worth watching! It has a little of everything: humor, excitement, suspense, thrilling, and a happy ending. Be careful having your kids watch this, though. As the movie progresses and tensions rise, there is some minor language that makes the movie realistic. According to kidsinmind.com, the "f" word is used only once. All the rest are common words you would expect to hear from a regular movie. I give it two thumbs up!!!
Movie Review: Family Counseling- The Hard Way... Summary: 5 Stars
Meryl Streep plays a wife and mother who arranges a family white-water rafting trip. She is near to divorce, and her husband (David Strathairn from Dolores Claiborn) and son (Joseph Mazzello from Jurassic Park) are barely speaking. Enter a trio of ne'er-do-wells, led by the seemingly nice, Wade (Kevin Bacon from Stir Of Echoes, Tremors, Death Sentence, Hollow Man, etc.), and things start to get interesting. The family is forced to fight for their own survival, while seeing each other in whole new ways. Even the whimpy dad has his chance for redemption through heroic acts of bravery. Streep is magnificent as the former rafting guide mum, out to turn the tables on her nemesis and his remaining henchman (John C. Reilly). I love seeing actors do "out of character" material, especially stuff that no one would expect! If you love action / suspense / thrillers with adventure and kick, then THE RIVER WILD should hit you full-force... P.S.- Watch for Benjamin Bratt in a decent cameo as a ranger...
Movie Review: So Suspence Filled! Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great movie which has one of my favorite actors in it. Joseph Mazzello plays Roarke, the son of Gail(Meryl Streep) who is a white water river rafting guide. They take a ride down a river with Roarke's father, Tom, played by David Strathairn. They have a fun time at the start of the trip, but when two fellows (Kevin Bacon and John C. Reilly) ask for help riding down the river, things start to become odd. This is an excellent movie with great acting by Joseph Mazzello, Meryl Streep, and Kevin Bacon. I highly recommend it. The movie keeps you on the edge of your seat and you just beg that the family will make it out okay. I give it 5 stars.
