Movie Reviews of The Return of the KingMovie Review: Mismatched set, but all in all a good one. Summary: 5 Stars
Both the Hobbit and the Return of the King are more for kids, as I remembered them. That is who I bought it for, and they loved it. The middle movie, titled The Lord of the Rings, was meant for a little older audience but falls short, yet fails to keep the kids as interested. Being a fan of cinema, I love it for the originality of it's production method. And, as a fan of the book I must point out that it, yet much more abridged, sticks closer to the book's storyline. All in all, if you love the Lord of the Rings, you'll enjoy this series. Just remember that the middle movie is a bit more violent and less kid friendly.
Movie Review: I really need to defend this movie Summary: 5 Stars
First off, I have an attachment to this movie because it was the first introdcution I had to Tolkein. I saw this on TV when I was only a couple of years old. Every bit of the work is classic. I admit people may not like the music, differing tastes I suppose, but the animation and the dialog can't be beat. All I have to say to all those Peter Jackson fans looking down on this film is this: "This film has held my interest/appreciation for 20 years while Peter Jackson's production of The Return of the King left me feeling gypped before I even left the theatre." I don't think I need to say anymore.
Movie Review: Where there's a WHIP there's a WAY Summary: 5 Stars
Ha ha. Funny. Sure this version of an excursion in LOTR doesn't live up to all "critical" standards, but it is hobbit-loads of fun. The songs are first-rate.;) As a Tolkien aficionado who appreciates most creative interpretations of Middle Earth, I recommend for you get a copy and watch it. When it's over, watch it again, and when you aren't watching it, sing the songs to annoy one and all. Everyone will soon be singing the songs by him or herself and wondering where the heck they came from. You might not believe it, but this is the best movie ever made.
Movie Review: The Return of the King Summary: 5 Stars
'The Return of the King' is a wonderful animated movie classic by Rankin/Bass and is a must-own. Like its prelude 'The Hobbit', 'The Return of the King' has a lot of adventure and fantasy in it. It may not follow author J.R.R. Tolkien's 'Lord of the Rings' book trilogy that well, but that doesn't mean that it is a bad movie. The animation, sound effects, and voice acting in this spectacular movie are all outstanding! I highly recommend you buy 'The Return of the King' animated movie by Rankin/Bass!
Movie Review: Grand adaption Summary: 5 Stars
I found this film to be absolutely wonderful. The many songs were great, and the odd animation was beautiful, especialy the backgrounds. The animation was highly stylized, unlike Ralph Bakshi's Lord of the rings cartoon. Bakshi and his use of rotoscoping was horrid at some points, such as the battle of helm's deep, while this movie is beautiful throuhougt. The design of the creatures and characters was great as well. Truly a superior adaption of one of the greatest works of literature ever written.
