Movie Reviews of The PunisherMovie Review: FAITHFUL FAN Summary: 5 Stars
I've always loved the Punisher comics and was disappointed when the 80's movie version was released. Waste of film, waste of time. When I heard there was going to be a remake, it made me excited. I watched this new version in the theater and enjoyed every minute of it.
The dramatic (sad) music in my opinion matched Frank Castle's life and emotions. He lost his family, he's out for revenge, there's nothing left to love. He is somewhat of a hero but does justice his own way.
Some people may say this movie was weak but compared to the 80's version, this was great. This storyline is based on the recent story in the comics now and it's better this way. Updated and to the point.
I bought the DVD as soon as it was released and have watched it over and over again. But this is just me - I've been a Punisher fan and always will be.
Movie Review: "This isn't vengeance...its punishment..." Summary: 5 Stars
"The Punisher," the name still ring's in my head to this day ever since I first heard that it was being made into a movie. This has got be one of the best movie's I've ever seen, and is definately the second best adaptation of a comic book I've seen (following only behind "Spider-Man 2.") The movie is filled with ton's of shooting and other revenge based goodies. Thomas Jane does a great job as ex-FBI agent Frank Castle (who goes on a murderous rampgae on all forms of crime after his entire family is killed), and John Travolta is excellent as gang leader Howard Saint. Great effects, a wonderful story (that I actually think is much better then the comic), and just downright intense action make this a must see movie.
My vote: What the heck are you wasting time on your computer for? Go out there and see this movie now!!!
Movie Review: i know,i know john travolta's in it but this is a must see Summary: 5 Stars
ok heres how it goes my dad was huge punisher fan so i grew up watching the origanal alot and it grew on me but lookin back it was bad so i was the first to be in the theathers for this flick and then i saw tom jane and said o no not the guy from sweetist thing but man he was great.the movie it self was a must see. iwas glued to my seat. the action was great and some of the tricks he plays on the bad guy saint are very clever.and the plot was great but warning he has very lame but hillarous neighbors that just try to bring humor in this dark movie.the fighting scene aganist the russian makes the movie.and you might say o you liked it cuz you were always a fan of the comic and one of those easy to please people but everyone who has seen this flick with me loved it.YOU HAVE TO GET THIS MOVIE OR AT LEAST RENT IT
Movie Review: Was not what I expected Summary: 5 Stars
I was a Punisher collector for many years. I have all of the important early comics. I was very disappointed when the first movie with Dolph Lundgren came out and looked forward to this version. It went to video almost immediately and I have to say that I never saw a review of the movie. I figured, despite the cast, that this was a movie that didn't merit my attention, and so it didn't get it.
My son gave a copy of the movie to me for Christmas this year and last night I got around to watching it. The set-up of his family as a wonderful, loving group, was a little long for me, but did its job effectively in conveying some of Frank's loss.
The short version, I loved the movie. I too hope that there is a sequel. I can't believe that I didn't see this film earlier.
Movie Review: Some slow parts, but very good nonetheless Summary: 5 Stars
I was a fan of The Punisher comic books and thus wanted to see how the second movie turned out. Overall I was impressed. A lot of the scenes were reminescent of the comic book drawings (his stance, some of the dialogue, etc...) but a few of the characters (like the 2 jokers in the apartment) could have been left out. Rebecca Romjin was a welcome addition to the cast. A lot of the stuff Castle did just didn't make any sense, along with his choices for weapons and armor. Samantha Mathis should have been a major character in the movie instead of being killed off so early. John Travolta's portrayal of Howard Saint doesn't seem to contain the right amount of evil or ambition. Overall the movie is not as dark or gritty as the first movie (Dolph Lundgren as Frank Castle), but it is still worthwhile.
