Movie Reviews of The Prophecy

Movie Review: Different perspective on angels..
Summary: 4 Stars

Angels shown with human faults, pride, hate and envy. Walken played
a great Gabriel!

Movie Review: Great Movie
Summary: 5 Stars

The Prophecy is a family classic. I bought it to replace a VHS tape that had been stolen. My family and I LOVE this movie and recommend it to anyone. Amazon is so easy to buy from, and their prices are great. I could have tried the whole ebay thing, but I personally will go with Amazon whenever I can.

Movie Review: burning angels and an awful plot
Summary: 1 Stars

Someone bought me this dvd off of my wish list because I thought it was about witches! I was so mistaken.

I thought this movie was terrible. It is very very slow to pick up and some parts are hard to understand and follow. Basically, fallen angels (who are angry that God created human beings in His image)are in a war with the rest of the angels. Throughout periods of boredom and a snail pace plot, there is horrendous images of angels burning to death & angel war scenes of bloody angels hanging on posts.

I also had a hard time buying into Walken's performance. Although I generally think he is a good actor, he was not believable in this role.

The highlight of the film was Viggo Mortensen (more well-known from the Lord of the Rings Triology)who plays Lucifer.

Movie Review: Nicely done film, I'm impressed.
Summary: 5 Stars

I definitely think that this film was a cult classic, not only is it a horror film with a clever plot that makes you think but it also mixes alot of other elements as well like action, humor, religious stuff and the supernatural. The film is about Archangel Gabriel played brilliantly by Christopher Walken who believes that god favors humans more than angels so he decides to start a war in heaven. He goes in search of the most evil soul on earth to carry his dirty work. Christopher Walken's role in this film has got to be one of his best I have ever seen he was incredible, not only was he funny as hell (he describes the human race as talking monkeys) but he was also quite menacing and thats the reason for the cult status this film has received. The cast also includes Elias Cotias as a former priest turned detective named Thomas Dagget who is investigating a bizarre case which involves the victims eyes being burned out he soon gets involved with some other characters including an elementary school teacher played by Virginia Madisen who is protecting a little girl whos possessed with the evil spirit and he also meets an angel played by Eric Stoltz who is on god's side and Satan played brilliantly by Viggo Mortenson he was great and wasn't over the top but was soft spoken and liked to make a deal but also meant to take Dagget's soul if he ever crosses with him, some of the action scenes were great including a car chase scene in the dessert and one of the angels falling off a tall building were fantastic. Like I said before the storyline was very clever and intriguing and it really kept my interest during the course of the film. You will also notice that some of the cast were also in Pulp Fiction cause it was made during the same year in 1995, this was a brilliantly made and nicely done film that was followed up by several sequels that were also interesting the film also reminded me of other films like The Omen, Frailty and Hellraiser I guess it was a bit similar to those but definitely had an original idea. I highly recommend this supernatural horror film to horror fans.

Movie Review: It's a Theological War Film
Summary: 5 Stars

Horror? Bah, I say. It asks the question "Why does God love us the most, and why doesn't he love the angels as much?" Of course, you don't really get an answer, because who can really know the mind of God? Christopher Walken is fabulous (this actually might be his iconic role, once we look back on everything). Well worth the time and the thought. Highest rating.
