Movie Reviews of The Prisoner - Complete Series Megaset (40th Anniversary Edition)

Movie Review: "The Prisoner" is still as enigmatic as ever...
Summary: 5 Stars

My memory of this series was a disjointed, disconnected one that had a menacing Big Brother theme along with an inner scream that shouted for escape... After purchasing the series and having finished viewing them I can proudly say that I am left with a disjointed, unconnected feeling that there is something malevolent in the universe that Patrick McGoohan channeled when he created this series. I give it 5 stars for still being brilliantly enigmatic.

I am very happy with my purchase. For over 25 years I have been wondering how this series ended. I never saw the entire series just a few episodes. It is a good show and I would recommend it.

This turned out to be a wonderful gift for my husband. Whenever he gets the opportunity, he enjoys sitting down and watching an episode. This is one gift that he really enjoyed.

Movie Review: Prisoner Complete Series Megaset
Summary: 5 Stars

To completely understand this series you would need to purchase the first series Danger Man and the second series Danger Man and watch them prior to watching The Prisoner series. It has been said there was no real relationship between these series. I don't believe that to be so. Drake (Patrick McGoohan) is a new agent in the first series and progresses to a top agent in the second series. His Drake character becomes disillusioned in the second series and it's obvious by the last episode in the Danger Man second series that he wants out of the spy business altogether. His knowledge makes him a real threat to his government and so....he is abducted and sent to a really bizarre place....and so begins The Prisoner series. I highly recommend purchasing all three series to completely appreciate the psychology. This is something that requires alot of attention from the viewer.
Without it you will miss the tiny little nuances that help you understand who Drake is and what he represents.

Movie Review: Stop watching those blurry VHS tapes you made of this masterpiece in the 80s
Summary: 5 Stars

At least, that was my rationale when I got on Amazon and looked for a complete DVD set. But the price was so good, I went a little crazy and bought sets for several other fans as well. The Prisoner, together with a handful of other series like The Twilight Zone, show just how intelligent, creative, and meaningful television can be. I'm not sure if this series explains the meaning of life, but it's definitely about the meaning of life, and you'll learn a lot from it.
