Movie Reviews of The Prestige [Blu-ray]

Movie Review: Pledge, Turn, PRESTIGE !
Summary: 5 Stars

This film will blow you away. Why ?
Well, just look at the cast. Then think about the director. You've seen these fine actors in great films before. You've probably seen Nolan's 'Momento' and 'Batman Begins'.
If you were intrigued by the tricks of plot and perception in 'Momento' and the adventure and dark excitement of 'Batman Begins', you'll find that both are combined in 'The Prestige', as it is based on the World Fantasy Award Winning novel (the books 'Perfume' and 'Replay'-the source of the basic idea behind 'Groundhog Day' - won this award also) by Christopher Priest, one of the finest authors in the world today, whose books defy categorisation.
I suggest you read his works now, or as Neil Gaiman says 'all the cool people will laugh at you,'.

Movie Review: An amazing film with an astounding picture
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie has quickly become one of my favorites due to what I feel is a very strong story and some convincing acting. Throw in some nice special effects and the movie itself is great. If you've seen the movie and like it as much as I do and have the equipment to really get the full HD effect (I recommend having 1080 resolution on your set and an HDMI cable) getting the Blu-ray is a must. The audio and picture quality can really showcase your tv and player's abilities. I have seen some very nicely made and tremendous looking DVDs look like garbage next to this. However, if you are lukewarm about the movie or don't have the equipment to showcase it then save some money and get the DVD.

Movie Review: The real prestige is that this is now my favorite film of the year
Summary: 5 Stars

With Christopher Nolan directing, the acting skills of Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Hugh Jackman, David Bowie (yes, the singer), and the lovely Scarlett Johansson, you can't go wrong. Even Gollum (Andy Serkis) himself shows up. Not to mention the outstanding sets, costumes, plot, and dialogue throughout the picture. While I did like The Illusionist, The Prestige has it beat in every category but the musical score. The whole theater I saw it with seemed very happy when the movie was over. They didn't stop saying "WOW" every couple of minutes towards the end of the film. The twists keep coming. If you haven't seen this film yet, get going as soon as you finish this sentence.

Movie Review: Definate keeper
Summary: 5 Stars

As others have said if you like Christopher Nolan's other films you should enjoy this one. I really liked David Bowie's potrayal of Nikolai Tesla.
Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman and Michael Caine are all great in this story of passion, jealousy and deception. Christopher Nolan is quickly becoming one of my favorite directors.

As far as the "forced ads" goes you can't jump to the menu but you can track forward through everything but the FBI warning, its annoying but not as unbearable as the other reveiwer made it out to be. I too wish they would stop this nonsense. I'm all for the previews on the disc just give me the choice of watching them.

Movie Review: Excellent Script and Acting!
Summary: 5 Stars

The Prestige is an awe-inspiring film which allowed its two key antagonists (Hugh Hackman and Christian Bale) to put aside their comic book alter egos and endulge in a bit of turn of the century magical whimsey.

I truly enjoyed the twists and turns thoughout the course of the movie. If you haven't seen it before, you have to be sure to pay attention from the very beginning. The movie truly takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions. You are not quite sure which of the magicians you root for, but you are constantly filled with anticipation to see how the deception, misdirection and folly is played out.

MUST SEE movie of 2006.
