Movie Reviews of The President's Analyst

Movie Review: May be dated but the threat still exists
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie is the essence of the Coburn movies of the time. Moreover, if you lived through the era then you would be amused at how accurate the movie is. For the Junge crowd this is a part of history that should not be missed. The clothing speech and attitudes match the time.

Much more important is the message and the President's analyst exposes the threat that we all should be a ware of. Who are the good guys? Who are the baddies? When you are the Presidents analyst where can you turn to?

Basic story is Doctor Sidney Schaefer (James Coburn), is picked to be the Presidents Analyst, You get to see that Coburn maniacal grimace as he slowly goes crazed under pressure. The FBR is out to get him even before he decides to escape the situation. However, under the surface of the cat and mouse chase is the real threat.

Movie Review: Comedy For Paranoids
Summary: 5 Stars

"The President's Analyst" is a pleasant surprise. It's a consistently amusing cold-war comedy that lightly tweaks at everyone's most paranoid fears about espionage, government beauracracy, and monopolistic public utilities among other things. Being the sixties, it also sends up suburban liberals, hippies, and yes, psycho-therapy. James Coburn is brilliant as the analyst who finds that taking on the job as the President's analyst makes him the target of competing interests, some benevolent and some not so. The movie really takes hold when his paranoia starts to set in. Good supporting cast that includes Godfrey Cambridge as a U.S. spy and Severn Darden as an affable Soviet spy. My favorite bit has to involve William Daniels as the gun-toting self-proclaimed suburban liberal.

Movie Review: One of the best funny movies about the sixties
Summary: 5 Stars

For 30 years this was my favorite movie. The plot would work today as well as it did then. You will never gues who the bad guy is. It has a whole lot of 60's/cold war stereotypes like short FBI agents. The world of undercover agents wants the presidents analyst. The analyst just wants dope and hot chicks as well as a centered chi. Watch it. You probably missed this and don't know what you are lacking. Typing this I chuckle going over some of the scenes.

Movie Review: Time Capsule
Summary: 5 Stars

Tongue in cheek view of the cultural scene in the 60s. It is an often hilarious movie, but the theme of Big Brother watching is all too true today and should make one a little uneasy in-between the laughs. Coburn does a great job with the facial expressions as he descends from suave analyst to freaked-out hippie. There is a very capable supporting case featuring Godfrey Cambridge and Severn Darden.
