Movie Reviews of The Point

Movie Review: DVD of "The Point"
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a DVD of the original 1971 airing of The Point, music by American songwriter and musician Harry Nilsson.

The story line has many themes, bully's in school, absolute power corrupts absolutly, and discrimination. All issues are presented by an animated cartoon medium.

Nilssons famous song from the movie, "Me and My Arrow" was used by Chrysler corporation to launch and keep customers loyal to the Plymouth Arrow.

Music is first rate, the voices of the characters are wonderful.

The movie provokes much introspection about how to live life.

It answers the question "What is 'The Point' of it all?"

Movie Review: Long-Lasting Impression
Summary: 5 Stars

My parents hired this on video for my brother and myself to watch way back in the late 80's. While we had it the video store burnt down, so the video was added to our personal collection. I must have watched this film a hundred times from ages 6 to 12, and I never got sick of it. The narrator on our version was Ringo Starr, and he did a brilliant job of it. Wow... Thomas the Tank Engine flashbacks...
Anyway, the film is great. The story is great. The music is great. I love the name Oblio. Every now and then a song or an image from this film will pop into my head and i always smile and tell myself i must remember to track down my copy.

Movie Review: A real classic
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a classic. So get your hippy on and get the Point. A message for all ages. And just plain entertaining. Even for those thick headed pre-teens you are raising. And after watching it you will know they got the point because they will spend the next several weeks singing the soundtrack (off-key). In fact the poor whale that decomposed comes up every time we brew a cup of tea. (You'll either get used to it or quit drinking tea.) So in summery; While this is not something you'll want to watch every weekend, it's a good show. And whether you like it or not, at least you will have gotten the point. (Sorry. I couldn't resist.)

Movie Review: Every kid should see this movie!
Summary: 5 Stars

If you're a grownup, you'll fondly remember the psychedelic kids programming that was born in the 70's. If you're a kid, you'll be begging your parents to play it again and again.

We bought several copies of this to give to all of our friends' children and the reviews have been glowing. The kids are in the four-six year old range, and apparently we've started a epidemic of "Me and My Arrow" singing.

It's a great story with a wonderful message that parents can enjoy with their children. You'll be singing "Me and My Arrow" soon enough...and just wait till you see the Rock Man!

Movie Review: Just like I remembered
Summary: 5 Stars

I used to watch this movie when I was little out at my grandparent's house. I loved it then, and I love it now. I didn't know it had been released on DVD until recently, but I am glad I found it. I am planning on introducing it to my nephews and nieces in the near future.

The songs are fabulous, and the animation is great. My favorite is "Me and My Arrow".

I did notice I caught a lot more of the subtleness of this move now than when I was little.

If you haven't seen it, rent it or buy it and watch it!!! It's definitely a must see!!!
