Movie Review: Plucky Pirates!
Summary: 5 Stars
This is a movie that brings back memories for me. This movie reminds me of the summer when my brother and I were big enough to stay home alone AND we got our first cable box. Do you remember the kind where you had to flip a button to the front, middle, or back to get the different channels?! Anyway, this movie would come on almost every day that summer. My brother and I would sit down and just laugh our heads off at the silly humor.
If you are looking for something profound, this is definately not your movie. On the other hand, if you are looking for a great campy 80s musical that will have you rolling on the floor with laughter, this is the motherload! It's just a jolly-rodger good time.

I first saw this movie probably 20+ years ago and both my son and I loved it. Being from Victoria, Australia, where it was filmed was a real treat. After seeing it and identifying the palces we went on a mission to visit and identify actual locations.
Werribee Park - the mansion and Loch Ard Gorge where the pirate bits were filmed.
Hilarious to watch them come up the cliff from the beach and appear in front of the mansion given that each are many, many miles/kilometres apart.
My son, young at the time, had a ball identifying the various rooms, including the Library at the mansion.
Such fun then and now.
Movie Review: Buckle your swash and Give me a Happy Ending...
Summary: 5 Stars
This is a SUPER movie, full of music (parodies of Pirates of Penzance and some originals) and lots of corny humor. I enjoyed this as a teen when it was in the theaters in 1982, found a VCR tape of it (finally) last year and shared with my daughter, and SHE loved it so much that I was ecstatic when it came out on DVD. Now we can watch it over and over and over without worrying about wearing out a tape!!! (Not to mention the advantage of scene selection and commentaries that come with new technology.)
Grab your sodas and popcorn, make some room on the floor for the kids to dance around, and sit back and enjoy this light-hearted, toungue-in-cheek Pirate Movie.
Movie Review: The Perfect Feel Good Movie!
Summary: 5 Stars
Okay so the humor in this movie is corny and cheesy and is often off-color but it isand the songs are corny and cheesy too but I believe that's what us fans like about this movie.
I think of this as a feel good movie in which thge silly humor and corny songs make you feel happy and relaxed and in a world where there is a lot of strife and turbulance I think we need movies like this to cheer us up so this is in my opinion the perfect feel good movie to watch when you are sick or just feeling a little blue!
Kristy McNichol is adorable as Mable and Chris Atkins and Ted Hamilton are also quite charming!

my wife has always talked about this movie she saw when she was still young. she was not sure what the title was but remembered that it was a musical about a girl and a pirate prince and that the songs were very good. wanting to please her, i've made it my mission to find "that movie". the search obviously started in video stores, yard sales, and friends. i discovered amazon while looking for books about airguns. and, lo and behold! there was a video section so i checked it out. the rest, as they say is history. i'm a happy man with a very happy wife.
