Movie Reviews of The Pink Panther Classic Cartoon Collection

Movie Review: Awesome!
Summary: 5 Stars

This has been one of the best DVD purchases ever for our family. So many countless hours of great cartoons! My kids ages 10-1 are mesmerized by it!

Movie Review: Bad Decision
Summary: 2 Stars

This person is just trying to relive my memories from the past. I have ordered cartoons featuing the Loony Toons, Rocky and Bullwinkle, the Flintstones, etc. But this Pink Panther collection is BORRRRING!

Movie Review: In The Pink
Summary: 5 Stars

If you remember these from your youth or are new to the Pink Panther you should enjoy these mostly mime cartoons. They are similar in tone to the Road Runner cartoons but the Pink Panther does not always come out unscathed as does the Road Runner. The visual style of the cartoons is rather unique as well. And the Henry Mancini Pink Panther theme is awesome. My kids (ages 3 and 2) really enjoyed them. Overall an excellent show!

Movie Review: Pink Panther, a classic
Summary: 5 Stars

This DVD set was an incredible value. Just as funny now as it was back on Saturday mornings.

Movie Review: Yay!
Summary: 5 Stars

I grew up with the Pink Panther, and it's a blast being able to see them all again. I've only finished the first disk, but these cartoons are excellent. At times the trickster and at times being tricked, the Pink Panther is such an outstanding character that he pulls you along no matter what part he plays.

The special features on the fifth disk are fun too, especially the title credits to the Peter Sellers' "Pink Panther" movies. That's where I started -- watching the opening credits to "The Pink Panther" and then going back to the first short from the early 60s.

The other reviews are right when they say some of the weaker cartoons are the ones where the Pink Panther talks. It seems so superfluous, like they threw in a voice for him because they needed to. But I can see where the animators were just getting the sense of the character with those early shorts, and it was probably worth the experimentation just to see if it worked. Fortunately, saner heads prevailed, and the Pink Panther quickly lost his voice. The occasional laugh track is equally jarring, again appearing in one short and not the next.

Overall, this set is certainly worth it for Pink Panther fans young and old. The humor is light, the animation is fun and stylized, and the soundtrack rocks. This is cartooning at its best!
