Movie Reviews of The Pink Panther [Blu-ray]Movie Review: My 11-year-old daughter LOVES this movie Summary: 5 StarsOkay, it's not Peter Sellers, but let's face it... some of those old 'original' Pink Panthers were real stinkers! Don't kid yourself. And as with much of life, it's better to suspend some of the cinephile's critical urges when trying to enjoy anything that's just funny.
If you're able to give Steve Martin a chance, and I admit it took a couple of viewings for me (thank my daughter for the repeat viewings), you'll find this to be a pretty clever and very funny gag-fest.
If you want undiluted and critically acclaimed good fun, buy the original Peter Cook and Dudley Moore version of 'Bedazzled.' Otherwise, consider the source and enjoy this Pink Panther with your kids, who will begin speaking in a preposterously bad French accent like most of the actors in this movie.
Movie Review: Best movie for kid's in a long time Summary: 5 StarsMy children laugh through this movie from beginning to end. They have watched it so many times that I have lost count. It is replayed with every friend that comes over for a sleepover as it is one of their favorite movies. It tickles the funny bone of a child just right and is much cleaner than most of the stuff out there for kids. I would recommend it to any parent who wants a nice movie to entertain the kids. It is not art and it is not educational but it is a really fun 90 minutes of slapstick comedy.
Movie Review: It's not Peter Sellers! Summary: 3 StarsI've been a fan of the Pink Panther series since the very first one. I own all of them and added this one to complete the set. Although Steve Martin is usually pretty good at slapstick, it didn't work for me in this film - probably too use to seeing Sellers do it. I still enjoyed watching the movie; I suspect he will make another one. Buy it to complete your set but don't kid yourself - it's not Peter Sellers!
Movie Review: Excellent Effort Summary: 4 StarsI love classic Pink Panther movies and of course Peter Seller, I though no movie could even get close to them, but it was a great surprise to see this movie, It has the genes of old Pink Panther movies, although no one can replace Peter Sellers, he was unique, Steve Martin made an a superb job as Inspector Clouseau. Jean Reno becomes the perfect assistance for Martin, becoming are very funny couple.
If you love the Classic Pink Panther, this movie is worse seeing
Movie Review: the unwanted remake Summary: 3 StarsRemaking a classic is a really tough sell to the public. This movie isn't that bad. It's funny in many of the same ways as the original was. There are plenty of silly laugh out loud moments. This movie was doomed before it was ever released. Generally speaking, the public just didn't want it. I get the feeling that most of the critics of this movie never even saw it. They just blew it out of the water because it was both an easy target as well as being unwanted. Steve Martin is great in this role. Kevin Kline's character is limited and Beyonce's acting is just painful to view here. She is clearly miscast. I guess Mariah Carey wasn't available. If you can catch this movie on cable, give it a chance with an open mind. You might be surprised.
