Movie Reviews of The PianoMovie Review: I almost never give 5 stars to any movie, BUT Summary: 5 Stars
This one is a huge exception. Haunting, intelligent, breathtaking scenery. All of the actors were so sincere, and yes, the story was familiar, but, it was told and shown in a very unique way. My hat is off to Harvey Kietel, one of our most underrated actors in the business today, he was at his best. Holly, always good, Anna played her bratty daughter well. Sam Neil was ok, but I always thought he was overrated. No CGI, no big explosions, no over the top killings, just a very good story that is sorely lacking in movies today.
Movie Review: Piano perfect.... Summary: 5 Stars
I saw this movie back when it was in theaters and recently bought the dvd. This is a great story, centering around Ada, a woman that is mute and her daughter played by the talented Anna Paquin (now an X Men heroine). Holly Hunter and Anna Paquin won Oscars for their roles and Harvey Keitel gives a performance that is Oscar worthy as well. The music, the scenery and the acting all blend together perfectly making a movie that is appealing to all your senses. A very good film and well worth adding to your collection.
Movie Review: "To hell!" Summary: 5 Stars
The Piano is a heavy drama that is filled with splendid performances and an awesome score. Holly Hunter deservedly received the Oscar for her convincing portrayal of Ada. Ada floating above her piano at the bottom of the dark and silent sea is quite haunting and peaceful to see. Attached to her piano by the rope around her foot, the blue of the water is glowing deep and light, everything is barely visible, only dark shadows with her, the piano, a few fish and some swaying vegetation.
Movie Review: This is an excellent movie. Summary: 5 Stars
The Piano is a profound, intelligent, and stunning film. It is a must-see for devoted musicians or anyone with a passion for life. The score by Michael Nyman helps make The Piano sound as good as it looks. Outstanding performances by a precocious Anna Paquin and an intriguing Holly Hunter. This is the kind of movie that will leave you pensive, emotional, and inspired. One of my favorites. END
Movie Review: the piano Summary: 5 Stars
You have to be a special kind of person for you to benefit from this movie. I thought it was stupendous? You have to be a total wierd romanic to appreciate this kind of movie. The acting is marvous, the story is the best, the acting in this movie makes it all come together. You won't be disappointed unless you are hopeless, or unromantic with absolutely no hope of ever finding true love.
