Movie Review: Excellent! Summary: 5 StarsThis movie sure brought back memories. I remember the SATs. A b****, they were. But this ain't about me; it's about a group of teens that didn't fall in with the same crouds, but they each had a reason to get a good score on the SATs. Reluctantly, they decide to steal them. Let's review the teens. First up, there's Kyle. He's a good kid who's expected very highly by his parents and 430-scoring brother to do well. His best friend, Matty, (who was the mastermind behind the idea), just wants to go to the college where his girlfriend resides. They enlist Francesca, a sulky website girl who's father owns the building where the test is held, making her an ideal person to help them steal it. Of course, you couldn't have a movie without the "goody goody". Anna is her name. An extremely sexy smart girl, she wants desperately to do well on the SATs, which shouldn't be a problem, seeing how smart she is, but she freezes up when she takes the pre-test. She brings her friend Desmond, a star-basketball star-in-the-making-guy. If he can't get into college, his father won't allow him to go pro. And, my personal favorite of them all, is Roy, the stoner guy. He may seem weird and his mind may be on video games and porn half the time, but he has some extraordinary skills. This movie had everything a teen movie needs. Good humor, including excessive use of the s-word; romance (I won't tell which teens get a little action with each other); and action. It's almost like a spy movie, but with adolescence. And being that this movie is from MTV, you can expect some great titles, and there's also a load of cameos. It's just about as worthy as great teen flick, American Pie. Do not miss it.
Movie Review: Culturally biased against the audience Summary: 2 StarsTHE PERFECT SCORE is a witless comedy about a group of teens who feel that their lives won't be complete unless they score well on the SATs. So, they decide to steal the answers from the ETS headquarters and use them to make sure they each get into the college of their choice. I had hoped, because of the presence of Erika Christensen (TRAFFIC) and the sublime Scarlett Johansson(LOST IN TRANSLATION) , that this would be something special, but Christensen performs as if she's been sedated and Johannsson looks like she really misses Bill Murray. (Johannsson does get to be in a funny Matrix-parody dream sequence) . What's most disappointing is the fact that each character has been given , at best, one dimension. The two lead guys are dull, there's a pothead, and a jock. (NBAer Darius Miles, who should stick to b-ball). Where are the rich teens of SAY ANYTHING, ONCE AND AGAIN, or even a John Hughes movie? Somebody out tbere knows how to write fully realized teens.... Recommended for Johannsson fans only.
Movie Review: The perfect score is a Perfect hit Summary: 5 StarsThe Perfect Score is one of the year's most hilarious movies. The odd-ball cast is brilliant in delievering a weird but convincable story about 6 students who decide to steal the SAT answers in order to secure thier furtures. Scarlett Johansson is wonderful as her role of Fransesca, she plays a hard hearted young punk girl who is devistated from her father always ingnoring her and replacing his love with money. Leonardo Nam plays the always half stoned genius, who accidently finds out on what they are planing on doing. The other actors are brillient in this film as it also has Darius Miles (Desomod), Erika Christensen (Anna), Chris Evens (Kyle) an las but not lest Bryan Greenbur, who plays Matty the young teen who comes up with the idea of stealing the answers to the SAT. If you are into a good laugh and a fun night out this is the movie I advise you to go see.
