Movie Reviews of The Perfect ManMovie Review: Not quite perfect, but still good. Summary: 3 StarsFirstly, don't get me wrong, I actually really like Hilary Duff. I think she's a nice enough person for someone who's young and got Young Hollywood at her command, and she IS actually a pretty good singer. But something that Hilary lacks is the ability to choose unique and diverse scripts. This must be the fifth or sixth movie she's made since she graduated from the hit Disney sit-com "Lizzie McGuire" and not once yet, has she portrayed anyone other than the teenaged damsel in distress.
And this movie, "The Perfect Man" is no acception.
The story is simple. Sixteen-year-old Holly Hamilton has spent her life shifting her life all over the United States due to her mother's inability to secure a good relationship. Now, in her latest zip code of Brooklyn, New York, Holly is dertermined for her, and her mother to stay grounded for at least a little while. WIth the help of her friends Uncle Ben, Holly creates for her mum the illusion of "the perfect man", but along the way finds that life isn't all that simple.
Despite a great supporting cast - Chris Noth, who's most famously known as Mr Big on "Sex and the City", Heather Locklear, and "Queer Eye's" Carson Kressly - the film is swarming with tedious cliches and an unrealistic script. It mars the otherwise important message of the film - that running from your problems will only make things worse. Hilary Duff is a good actress, with a lot of potential, and many successful years ahead of her. I just wish she'd choose more meaty and original scripts that will bring her talent to life.
However, I gave this movie three stars for a reason. It IS a fairly good film for a Friday night after a hard day's work. It's pleasant, no mistaking, and it WILL generate quite a few little giggles throughout. Carson Kressly is halarious as the gay bartender, whose real-life fashion expertise leaks through onto the screen. And I personlly, being a HUGE "sex and the City" fan, love seeing my Mr Big in films, so on that front I enjoyed it.
"The Perfect Man" suffers from predictability and a flawed script. However die-hard fans of Hilary Duff will love it and the array of loved recognisable faces will add a spark. No, it's not perfect, but it's good.
Movie Review: Hil rocks!!!!!!!! Summary: 5 StarsI adore this movie! My mom thought it was only okay, but I loved it! It is the best movie I have seen in a while. My only arguement is that Heather Locklear, (Hil's mom), acts stupid and won't listen to her daughter. Hil, on the other hand, rocks in this movie! I love her character,(Holly), and I love her! I can't wait till she makes more movies. If you are a fan of Hilary Duff, then see this movie!!!!
Movie Review: same old fluff Summary: 1 Starsan obvious variation of movies like parent trap and other films where kids try to hook up their parents with someone. The commercials looked good but as soon as I saw hilary duff's name I knew it would be garbage and it was.
Movie Review: Sweet, funny, and cute Summary: 5 StarsHilary Duff, my fave actress, plays a sweet young girl named Holly who is tired of moving every time her mother Jean gets her heart broken by a loser. So, when they move to Brooklin, she decides to invent a secret admier to romance Jean and make her happy. The plan works, and she and her new best friend Amy use her handsome uncle Ben as the guy behind it all. But the plan keeps Holly on her feet and is not really working. Her mother seems to be more interested in dating a loser named Lenny. So Holly is has to break down and tell the truth. But she doesn't want to her hurt her mother's feelings. The movie's very sweet. Heather Locklear and Hilary have a great mother/daughter chemistry and they work well together. They look alike, too. Probably the best romantice comedy I've ever seen. Aria Wallace plays Hilary's younger sister Zoe and is sooo cute! A fine a young actress. Hilary succeeds as Holly, and the girl who plays her best friend Amy is pretty and cool. The movie's defintely is a comedy, but it has its heartwarming moments. One of Hilary's best films. At 18, she's quite the star and doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Sure, she's cute and her movies are sweet, but what's wrong with that? I think she's sincere and pretty and sweet and funny. And a good person and a nice girl. I'm a huge fan. I'm 15 and love, love, love her! She is very lucky she has the life she has. I wish I were a star. She makes it seem to fun and cool. She's so cool herself! I think Hilary rocks!
Movie Review: Cute movie for all ages Summary: 4 StarsThis was a family friendly movie. The story was cute if unbelieveable, but don't we all need that once in a will. I don't think the acting was very strong but the message was nice.
