Movie Reviews of The Perfect ManMovie Review: It's a disgusting world that gives Hilary Duff top billing over an actress like Heather Locklear! Summary: 1 StarsIt's a disgusting world that gives Hilary Duff top billing over an actress like Heather Locklear! Five Stars for Heather, ZERO for the Duffster! Hilary Duff couldn't act her way out of a Hefty bag, but she's the big cash-cow that plays to the lowest common denominator. Poor Heather. She is much better than this DRECK! Oh for you brain-dead Hillary teenyboppers, that means GARBAGE!
Movie Review: However you want to interpret it.... Summary: 1 Stars...Hilary Duff needs to take a shot in the mouth.
Movie Review: A Fun Movie but NOT Perfect Summary: 3 StarsTHE PERFECT MAN is a cute teenage girl movie. It has all the feel good parts, along with the appropriate boy meets girl, true love prevails type plot and subplots. A brain tease it's not.
Teenage sweetheart, Holly Hamilton (played by Hilary Duff) gets fed up with her mom's never ending moving. Seems every time her mother breaks up with her boyfriend, the family is off again on a new adventure. The latest move is to Brooklyn where Holly makes friends and settles in. Her mother, Jean (played by Heather Locklear) is trying to land another boyfriend as soon as their moving boxes are unpacked. In order to stop the cycle, Holly decides to create the perfect man for her mother. A "secret admirer" begins romancing Jean and she falls for the ploy. Holly is helped with this scheme with her new best-friend, who says the perfect man happens to be her Uncle Ben (played by Chris Noth). The girls interview Ben and record all of his wonderful thoughts as to the proper way to romance a woman.
The ploy works until the girls carry it a bit too far and everyone watching knows it is only a matter of time until Jean knows the truth. It's predictable but still enjoyable even when you can almost recite the next lines. If Disney still had their Movie of the Week, this family film would definitely be on the short list.
The cast of characters are an interesting bunch. Hilary Duff still reigns as one of Hollywood's most attractive teenie bopper idols. She lights up the screen whenever she smiles and her eyes are absolutely gorgeous. It's no wonder Adam, her new school friend, fell hard for her! Next comes Heather Locklear who is still a heartthrob in her own right. She can't seem to shake the dumb blonde roles though, and even though this isn't a total idiot role, her brain cells are definitely not working overtime. Zoe is the younger sister to Holly and is played by Aria Wallace who is just quirky enough to be entertaining and cute without a sugar overdose. Zoe's claim to fame in a house of gorgeous females is that she can spell anything. Her dream comes true in the end when she's able to enter a spelling bee at school, even though the audience is never told if she wins. Chris Noth is the sexy man who seems to have all the right things to say and do. He left me wondering why he hadn't been snagged and hauled off to the alter years before. But if he was, then they wouldn't have a movie around him. Supporting characters were often the highlights and they received the most laughs. Caroline Rhea is perfect as a baker and is always mouthing off with some pun that is hilarious! Carson Kressley, the main man who works for Ben, is amazing in his role. One of the highlights was when the construction crew came into the restaurant for free beer and Carson jumped right up to serve them, including the little drink umbrellas. Everyone was laughing so hard many couldn't catch their breath.
The plot isn't strong and has holes the size of New York. If you can get past those and just view it for the amazing support characters, you'll be entertained. The ending does have a dose of values thrown in - the mom realizes she should not run from her problems and confront them, etc., etc. But it still has a Happily Ever After ending that will leave you feeling good.
Movie Review: The Perfect Man: cute; Duff looks better here than now Summary: 5 StarsJean Hamilton (Heather Locklear) keeps getting her heart broken. As a result, her and her two daughters Zoe (Aria Wallace) and Holly (Hilary Duff) move. Now in New York, Holly makes up an imaginary secret admirer for her mother to boost her self-esteem. Using her friend Amy Pearl's (Vanessa Lengies) Uncle Ben Cooper (Chris Noth) as the imaginary admirer, Jean falls in love with the man she never met.
This is a cute comedy that will leave a smile on your face by the end.
Movie Review: A WONDERFUL HILARY DUFF FILM! Summary: 5 StarsHilary Duff stars as Holly in another fun packed film and Heather Locklear as her Mum, Jean. A romantic film where Holly is fed up of moving every time Heather gets dumped by a man. When they move again they move for good and Holly's younger sister Zoe gets to be a spelling bee at her school. While Zoe practises, Holly pretends to be her mums boyfriend as she is fed up of seeing Heather so desperate for a man. She sends letters with the help of her friends, uses a boy's computer that she knows to contact her and lots of other things. In the end Jean finds out about what her daughter had been doing. It's a great film and has a lot of day to day things happening in it.
