Movie Reviews of The People vs. Larry Flynt (Special Edition)

Movie Review: What a movie!
Summary: 5 Stars

Any movie with Courtney Love in it is worth watching. She has to be one of the most under rated actors of our age. Courtney, Woody, and Ed Norton are just excellent. My only complaint is that the DVD didn't have any extras. Some commentary from Milos Forman, or Courtney Love would have been fantastic.

Movie Review: Harrelson/Love in top form
Summary: 5 Stars

The acting in this movie was excellent. Courtney Love was the best! This movie is very political, and can bring out some strong opinions from its' viewers about sex, censorship, religion, and drugs.I would not recommend watching it with your parents, as there is a lot of nudity and sex (obviously!) This movie hits home to what America is all about, and the ending is actually very touching. This is my all-time favorite movie!

Movie Review: First amedmant or first love
Summary: 4 Stars

Larry flint should never be recognized as a hero. It is apparent that his motivation was his fist love, money. His lavish lifestyle was what he was protecting not the first amendment. The true statement in this movie is what a man will do to survive. Although the first amendmant was clearly defined and tested by his lawyer and his statements. We must truly recognize that this magazine and what it stands for is not what the first amendment was intended for. His racist remarks an his humiliation of women does not make him a hero. I would be the first to argue for his right to say what he says but I do not agree with what he says. The movie deserves all the credit it gets for the portrayal of each character and the actors performed brilliantly.

Movie Review: Satisfactory movie, moronic subject
Summary: 2 Stars

Clearly, the world needs more cynics. Did, or does, Larry Flynt really care about the First Amendment? You bet, but only because it lets him make a livelihood selling pornographic magazines that also attack minorities and gays. I can't wait for the Hollywood movie that portrays Charles Manson as a kind-hearted performance artist who only wanted to use human blood and entrails as a medium.

Movie Review: Try watching a little more objectively...
Summary: 5 Stars

It's sad to discover that *some* people (who have posted reviews here) have overlooked the merits of this film... and focused only on Larry Flynt as a man. Well, listen up... a movie is not WHAT it's about, but HOW it's about it!

Don't complain about the actions of Mr. Flynt in the movie... after all, he (Flynt) overlooked the production... he really did those things. Perhaps Milos Forman should've CHANGED the events somehow? No!

This film is essentially a sad love story. Nevermind the politics and Ammendement speeches... what we have here is a destructive relationship in the vein of Sid Viscious and Nancy Spungen. It is masterfully directed, beautiful to look at, and deeply engrossing.

Whatever your feelings about Flynt, remember that he did play an important role in our era. Think he's a horrible person? You probably won't get an argument from him, as this film demonstrates.
