Movie Reviews of The Patriot (Special Edition)

Movie Review: Perhaps Heath' best movie
Summary: 5 Stars

The Patriot DVD

Mel Gibson is a pacifist who live in South Carolina circa 1776. His pacifism was caused by the violence he saw during the French and Indian War that he fought in. Heath Ledger plays his almost grown son.

Highly recommended for fans of the American Revolutionary war, Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger.

Movie Review: Great action drama
Summary: 5 Stars

This story is a great family title with a great story line that impresses on the family values and togetherness.

Movie Review: Great transfer!
Summary: 5 Stars

They did a great job transferring this to Blu-ray. It was dazzling in detail. It was all that I hoped for, in an older title that has be re-released.

Movie Review: The Patriot DVD
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an excellent movie! I purchased this movie for my mother before and decided I had to have it for myself. Especially sad watching it after Heath Ledger's death. :0(

Movie Review: Red, White and BLU Patriot
Summary: 4 Stars

I first saw The Patriot during its theatrical run. I truly enjoyed the movie for what it was, pure entertainment. The visuals and most impressivly John Williams score enchant me till this day.

However, if you are looking for an historically accurate storyline, you will not find it here. So many things were skewed to the Colonial point of view; slavery was not handled in an historical perspective, nor was the onesidedness of the brutality which heavaily leaned towards Britain. War is Hell, bottom line, show me a balanced perspective on all issues.

With all that being said, I still really enjoyed this movie. The extended cut runs just short of three hours and too me it was difficult to pick out where the movie was extended.

The blu ray disc itself didn't have many special features and was slightly disappointed with the transfer in several scenes. However, it is an improvement of the standard dvd. I am not sure about the superbit dvd, never saw that transfer. Surely blu wins that as well.

All in all, this disc is certainly worth the upgrade.
