Movie Reviews of The Party

Movie Review: Forgotten Sellers/Edwards
Summary: 5 Stars

A forgotten role of the late, great Peter Sellers and from the great director Blake Edwards. (Few people realize that this was their only non-Pink Panther film together)

Sellers allows his role as Bakshi to be an Indian counterpart to Inspector Clouseau, so accident-prone. It's nice to see a guest appearance by Gavin McLeod before he hit it off big. The film really is good to laugh at when you really need it.

Movie Review: Hysterical!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one the funniest movies I've ever seen. Peter Sellers is wonderful as a bumbling bit part actor who gets invited to a Hollywood party by accident. THe director made use of Sellers brilliant comic timing and ability to do physical comedy. Many of the gags are predictable, but it doesn't matter- it's still really funny, and one you can over again and still laugh!

Movie Review: Laugh until your sides hurt
Summary: 5 Stars

This was definitely one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. I am of East Indian origin, but was not offended in the least. Peter Sellers did a remarkable job in portraying an Indian actor in Hollywood, meek and naive. He really never fits in but manages interact with the crowd. Extremely funny. I can watch it over and over and always crack up laughing.

Movie Review: Seller's The Party 1968
Summary: 5 Stars

Although it starts out a little predictable, about fifteen minutes into the actual "party" sequences should have you LOLing repeatedly. Oh, and that first fifteen minutes is necessary to the story, so don't go to sleep. A real gem from Peter Sellers and Blake Edwards at the height of their film relationship (i.e. three years after they made The Pink Panther).

Movie Review: Extremely funny
Summary: 5 Stars

The opening sequence at the set of the big movie is fantastic. Sellers plays a terrible actor from India that ruins thmovie. The director voves that he will never work in Hollywood again. By mistake, Sellers is invited to a party at his home. Naturally he totally ruins the part and creates chaos. A must for anyone who enjoys the "Pink Panther" movies!
