Movie Review: Like '12 Angry Men' On Horseback
Summary: 4 Stars
I absolutely love this film. A friend of mine, when recommending it to me, called it "12 Angry Men on horseback", which I thought was funny but it actually works. This is a great western but doesn't get the same wide respect as stuff like 'High Noon' or 'The Searchers' and, sure, it's not quite as big or epic as those two but 'Incident' has a great (if simple) moral premise that runs through it. As per normal, Henry Fonda is great but the rest of the cast is good too and, for the second half of the film, you'll be sitting on the edge of your seat wondering about the outcome....
If there is one thing I didn't like, it's the love story sequence that, for me, didn't really add much to the main plot. Otherwise, I was fairly impressed and would recommend this to any film fan or western fan. Enjoy!
Movie Review: Daring attempt
Summary: 4 Stars
This movie is truely exceptional. It is an exception to those westerns made during that decade. This movie didn't showcase some wonderful unrelated landscapes from Monument valley, any songs, any love triangle, any revenge or any unwanted gunfight etc. What it potrayed was a short simple story with a shocking twist at the end. Being a western movie and specially Henry Fonda fan everybody should watch this movie. And believe me this movie specially the story (written by Walter Van Tilburg Clark - as a Novel) and the stunning performances by Henry Fonda, Dana Andrews and last but not the least Anthony Quinn will be a breeze of fresh air to the mainstream western prototypes (with all due respects to Wayne's Classic Westerns).Movie Review: 3.5 stars out of 4

The "letter" that Henry Fonda reads at the end of the film is almost audience-insulting in its lack of subtlety (they might as well have ended the movie with Fonda turning to the camera and lecturing on the importance of law and order) but for the majority of its running length The Ox-bow Incident is a dark and incisive look at "justice" in the old west

This is an old movie and in black and white so if that bothers you, you probably won't like it. It is also quite "talky" so if you are looking for fast action...strike two. What this movie DOES have is a very interesting story of right and wrong and justice. It is appropriate for TODAY even though it was a movie made long ago.Movie Review: The Ox-Bow
