Movie Reviews of The Outsider

Movie Review: Loved the Movie!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Tim Daly and Naomi Watts do a superbe job of portraying their characters. I loved the plot, the total transformation of two people who come together, in part through loving this wonderful little boy. There are some bloops, but then it's not a multi-million dollar production for the big screen. The three leads were totally believable. It was heart warming to see them married and then provide a stable complete home for this needy little boy. The Outsider is one of the best Westerns I've ever seen!! I loved the gun fight scenes which display Tim Daly's strong athletic ability. Probably his best role thus far! A lot of wonderful values 'stuff' going on in the film.

Movie Review: A Very Moving Western
Summary: 5 Stars

I was channel surfing and caught a bit of this movie and was hooked. The character development was very well done. Naomi Watts, torn between her love of her religious sect and her growing feelings for the gunman, Tim Daly, blossoms as she becomes as strong emotionally as she has been raising her son as a widowed mother. Mr. Daly shows more emotion with facial expressions - pain, longing, cold anger - than many actors are capable of with dialogue. The setting, supposed to be Montana but actually Australia! - is beautiful and adds natural music to the tale. All in all a great movie; after watching it on TV I bought both the DVD and the book. Enjoy both!!!!

Movie Review: Fantastic Western Romance
Summary: 5 Stars

You won't be disappointed purchasing the movie, The Outsider. Tim Daly is surprisingly wonderfully cast in the role of Johnny Gault, a gunslinger rough and tough cowboy that has been injured from a bullet wound and finds himself wandering upon Rebecca Yoder's farm. She takes him in and helps nurse him back to health after the local doctor removes the bullet (while he lays in her bed). I loved this movie since I am a sucker for historical romance movies and novels. Each person is cast perfectly and each role is very believable. I don't want to tell too much since I don't want to spoil the plot, but I really think you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Movie Review: Unexpected Find
Summary: 5 Stars

I came across this movie by chance, and it was an unexpected treasure. A well done romance, which worked mainly due to the two leads. If 'Angel and the Bad Man' (starring John Wayne) took the light-hearted approach to the story of a gunfighter being tamed by a Quaker woman, 'The Outsider' takes a more serious look at the inner struggles of the two characters who bridge the conflicting beliefs and upbringing and fall in love. Tim Daly was great as a gunfighter who slowly learns to trust another person, and Naomi Watts was wonderful as a Quaker widow who braves the scorn of her community for love. An excellent movie.

Movie Review: You'll never get tired of watching this movie!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have enjoyed few movies as much as this one. It is so well made - story, casting, acting, cinematography, music - all are as perfect as can be. A rare find nowadays! Both Naomi Watts and Tim Daly keep the viewer spellbound. You simply can't get tired of watching them, although this movie will appeal more to women than to men, thanks to Tim Daly, who brings every woman's fantasy to life in his portrayal of Johnny Gault. Although I didn't like the ending, it didn't diminish my great pleasure in watching this film. I bought the book, the dvd, and the music cd. Wish they made more movies like this.
