Movie Review: excellent adaptation
Summary: 5 Stars
This movie is based on the book The Outsider by Penelope Williamson. The book was excellent, and the movie is a faithful and well-rendered adaption of the story. Amish mother and widow Rachel is getting by, missing her husband and trying to keep their ranch going with the help of her young son, but generally content with her life. Then gunslinger Johnny shows up. He's wounded and needs help, and she nurses him back to health. To pay her back he agrees to stay and help out on the farm during their busy season. The two fall in love despite her strict religion and society and his difficult past -- a past that comes back to haunt them all.
Williamson's characters seem very real, and you want these two strikingly different people to find happiness together. The acting in the film is excellent, the portrayal of life on the frontier realistic. It's a great Western whether or not you're a fan of romance.

This movie is divine. I challenge everyone to buy it if you love westerns!It is historically correct in every way. I want hollywood or whoever to make more like it! I love Tim Daly and Naomi Watts. I have always loved the Carridine men. I grew up watching them and their father John Carridine. The characters were great and the stars were perfect for the parts! Enjoy the movie! This is an awesome western romance that had great acting. Tim Daly is so handsome. He is an excellent actor. Naomi Watts is a beautiful actress who gives a wonderful performance as a "plain" women. The story is great. It shows how in spite of everything Love Conquers all !!!
