Movie Reviews of The Osmonds: LiveMovie Review: Memories Summary: 3 Stars
Had to get use to the old style video taping, like watching a home garage video. But was able to see the Osmonds of long ago. Once a fan, always a fan.
Movie Review: An Okay Buy Summary: 2 Stars
As a long Osmond fan, I wanted to buy this video to take me back to my teen years when I couldn't get enough of the group. This did take me back, but I really didn't care so much for the 'concert'. The setup for the performances were lacking in space. I feel the 'stage' also adds to a good performance as performers utilize the space to bring out a good performance. I didn't think the performances were that incredible. For die-hard Osmond fans that want to share their memories with their children, then this videos wouldn't be a good video because it is not their best stage performance.
Movie Review: Different title, but same DVD Summary: 2 Stars
I bought another DVD of the same concert. Now I have two identical DVDs. This is very deceptive. It is not right to sell a similar product with different titles. This DVD has Jimmy on the cover, but he was not eve in the concert. I felt cheated. And I bought almost every of their DVDs.
Movie Review: Very Disappointed Summary: 2 Stars
I was so disappointed in this dvd, It wasn't like a real concert. I went to see them in Jacksonville, Fl,and it was alot better even with all the screaming fans. The sound on this dvd was horrible. It sounded like they were suffering from a cold.
Movie Review: Missing 17 minutes! Summary: 1 Stars
After reading the reviews from most of the 2 stars, I have to agree with what they've said. My biggest disapointment is the runtime. On the back cover it says approximately 47 minutes. This dvd times out at 30 minutes, 34 seconds. With no bonus footage or extras, I wonder where the other 17 minutes are? The last song, Dance To The Music, is about 40 seconds long, if that. Even though the cover shows him and during the dvd a credit is given to him as singing, there's no Jimmy.
The video is ok but the sound mix is horrible. It sounds like they're in a box. The vocals are good but there is way too much bass. This was filmed in a small television studio and with all of the backing musicians, the somewhat small stage is crowded. At the end, the red felt that's covering the stage comes loose causing some of the Osmonds to somewhat lose their footing. With this being filmed at what I consider just slightly beyond the peak of their career, I find the reaction of the subdued audience somewhat puzzling but understandable. The girls in the crowd appear to be Donny's age, and when he goes out and sings to them, kissing two of them, there's no reaction. Maybe they were expecting to see the Osmonds of two years earlier, the time which I consider them just starting to hit their peak. I would've preferred a dvd of that time period compared to this.
At this point in their career, this would've been much better if just the brothers were playing the instruments and being more like a band instead of a singing group, with maybe one or two backing musicians, because it's obvious they can't dance. The semi funky chicken moves and Jay's wild but sad attempt at doing some kind of I guess you could call them "moves" during Crazy Horses were lame. Even Donny's wild romp after kissing the two girls was bad. The brothers were too stiff and lacked the rythum (soul) it takes to really move. This dvd isn't what I expected.
