Movie Review: A comedy of (bad) manners.

A deliciously catty comedy that deserved all the acclaim it received when it was released theatrically. Christina Ricci takes the ball and runs with it in a signature performance as DeeDee Truitt, an acid-tongued teen who gets into all sorts of trouble when she moves in to live with her brother. The film is something of an acquired taste, and the humor may be a bit too racy for some. Already-established fans should definitely grab this one while first-time viewers might want to give this a rental to see if it's their cup of tea.Movie Review: Very funny - especially Christina Ricci

This is a very funny movie, especially in the writer's extremely self-concious use of Christina Ricci's voiceover narration. Her character is a hoot! The movie is a little weaker when dealing with more serious pathos, which seem somewhat out of place in such an irreverent movie. The picture and sound quality of the DVD is excellent. The extra scenes and audio commentary don't give much insight into the film. I could only stomach 15 minutes of the audio commentary track which was too stream-of-conciousness for its own good.Movie Review: If you're a fan of small films that entertain without EFX

I saw this film in the theater not more than a couple of months before it found its way to DVD. It might play even beter on the small screen. Christina Ricci gives a wonderful performance as the piece of white trailer trash you'll mostly hate but not completely despise. The story is engrossing and entertaining, with good writing. If you're a fan of arthouse films, leaning towards John Watters' types of character development (the film "Pecker" comes to mind, also with Ricci), you'll like this flick.Movie Review: opposite to Hollywood

This is very unusual black comedy. There are hundreds of black humor jokes (many very smart ones) and it seems to me that the movie was made only because of these jokes (not because of some kind of interesting story). That's just how I would describe the movie. I give it 4 stars for being very funny at times and for 1 very interesting point (instead of interesting story, unfortunately) that was revealed at the very end of the movie. I would of given this movie 5 but Lisa Kudrow's failing character really made a movie just a tiny bit boring as well as the fact that this film had too many gay characters which kinda was annoying. The story is about shocking Deedee Truit (Christina Ricci : Casper, Now And Then) who seduces her brother, Bill (Martin Donovan) when she falls in love with his gay boyfriend. tHe story is very thrilling, entertaining and its mostly about Deedee's life.
