Movie Reviews of The Omega ManMovie Review: Another Chuckston foray into Sci-Fi land Summary: 4 Stars
Made with a bigger budget and based on the same Richard Matheson novel as the Vincent Price film THE LAST MAN ON EARTH, THE OMEGA MAN eschews the original vampire concept in exchange for germ warefare zombies with really bad skin and white hair to match. Besides Chuck the cast includes Rosalind Cash, Paul Koslo and Anthony Zerbe. Heston acquits himself well. The ending is probably one of the more controversial of the 1970's. Weirdly enough, the recent Will Smith outing is based less on the Matheson novel than the Carrington script from OMEGA MAN. Figure that one.
Movie Review: Heston saving the world Summary: 4 Stars
This story has been done more than once and this version can be a little silly at times but it still has its charms. Heston was never that great an actor but in this type of role it fits. He was never subtle but this does not require that emotion so it works.
The evil group is way over the top and not too bright so they are really easy to defeat.
This is just one of those goofy diversions.
Movie Review: "I am Legend" is a Remake of "The Omega Man" Summary: 4 Stars
"I am Legend" is a Remake of "The Omega Man". Aside from the special effects, "The Omega Man" is a better implementation of the original storyline. It avoids the plunge into "Night of the Living Dead" and instead represents 'The Dark Seekers' with soothsaying hippie vampires. To see what I mean, you just have to try it... Definitely worthwhile viewing.
Movie Review: MOne of my fav's Summary: 4 Stars
This movie is great. It has action, drama, even a little romance. It is a doom & gloom movie with a very disturbing story line. I love these type of movies. I would put it in the same class as I am Legend, Resident Evil, 28 Days, The Thing, mad max, Escape from New York, you get the idea. It is definately a guys movie. Worth it to watch.
Movie Review: I'm not usualy one to go for remakes but this is an exception Summary: 4 Stars
The first version of this had Vincent Price in it and I believe it was called "The last Man on Earth". I'm weirded out by the fact that they remade it again. This time with Will Smith. I think this is the better version but I liked them all.
