Movie Reviews of The Office: Season TwoMovie Review: One of the best comedies in the history of TV! Summary: 5 Stars
I LOVE this show! The writing is top-notch and the cast is superb. I especially enjoyed watching the episodes with commentary. The deleted scenes demonstrate how difficult it must be for the editors to trim the footage down to 20+ minutes per episode. I suggest watching an episode without commentary, followed by the episode with commentary, and then the deleted scenes for that episode. The DVD menu set-up makes this easy by putting all three features for each episode on the same screen. I have watched each episode numerous times and notice something new with each viewing. It's refreshing to watch a sitcom without a laugh track with such sharp writing and acting. The Office will make you laugh, wince, gasp, and cry both happy & sad tears. You will care about these characters and be thankful you don't work with them!
Movie Review: Delicious!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
What can I say?!!! This show is such a heart warming, funny, and intelligent show that leaves you wanting more. I am counting the days for the new season to begin and the release of Season 3 on DVD. I didn't discover the series until last year and quickly got Season 1 and 2 on DVD. It is now a ritual in our house to watch a couple of episodes atleast 2-3 week.
I love all the twist and turns, including all the love triangles. I for one would not stop watching if Pam finally gets her Jim!!!! Michael Scott is delicously inappropriate and Dwight "assistant to the regional manager" is just as wacky as you want him to be! There is never a dull moment, and you simply cannot get disappointed. I know I have worked with atleast one of the characters on the show at some point in my life. I just love this show???!!!!
Movie Review: ...In Which Our Beloved Program Distances Itself From the UK Summary: 5 Stars
At this point, I would hope that we're done trying to compare the US "Office" with the BBC version (both of which I love equally). If you're not convinced, here's a list of awards that the US version has won (already): 2006 Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy (Steve Carell); 2006 Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series; 2007 Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
Season two takes off on its own, and is a separate entity from its UK brethren. While it's clearly the best show on television, season two varies wildly in quality as it searches for its own rhythm. Some of the episodes are five stars...while others fail to get more than a single star in my book. The good far outweighs the bad, thankfully.
Movie Review: Howlingly Funny Summary: 5 Stars
The Office is the best comedy to hit TV since Seinfeld. The concept originated from our British friends version of the Office, which is also quite funny, but I'll take our actors and their chemistry over their version anyday. Well written, well acted and actually makes you think on many levels. Once you get a feel for the characters, and understand their mix you'll find yourself quoting this series often. Meet Kevin the pervert. Discover Jim and Pan (see Dwight's concussion episode) and their friendship. Get irritated by Dwight - the Assitant to the Regional Manager all led by the annoying but pathetically likeable Michael, captain of the paper ship - who is "a friend first and boss second". It was up against some great competition for the Emmy and had a well deserved win!!!
Movie Review: A modern TV show that's sure to go down as a classic Summary: 5 Stars
I must say that I'm shocked it took me so long to get into "The Office." But after a few viewings the show grew on me, and now it's one of my favorites. All the characters are interesting: the rude, clueless and awkward Michael Scott (played with great gusto by Steve Carell), the neurotic sycophant Dwight (my personal favorite), the earnest and polite Jim, and you-feel-so-bad-for-this-character-and-love-her-to-death Pam. So many of the jokes that transpire on the Dunder-Mifflin Scranton branch are so amazingly funny, but in many different ways. I believe this show isn't for everyone; you either love it or hate it. I, on the other hand, love it, and I say to the makers of the show, "Keep the seasons coming." Because I love this show a lot more than a home-made oven mitt's worth.
