Movie Reviews of The Office: Season TwoMovie Review: You will definitely get your money's worth and then some. Summary: 5 Stars
To me, The Office is one of those shows that people either love or hate. This past summer I became familiar with the show by catching the reruns of the 2nd season on NBC. After watching just one full episode, I was hooked. I continued to tune in each week to watch the reruns and ended up buying season 1 a few weeks later. I watched that DVD repeatedly and decided that I had to buy the 2nd season as soon as it was available on DVD. I've watched both seasons a countless number of times. The episodes never stop being funny no matter how many times you watch them. At least that's how it is in my case. I know most of the people who will read this review will have probably already seen the show and might be as big of a fan of it as I am, but I cannot express enough what an amazing show this is. The writing and the comedic timing are beyond words. I hope to see this show last for at least 5 seasons.
Standout episodes from Season 2(in my opinion):
The Dundies
The Client
Christmas Party
The Injury
The Secret
Michael's Birthday
Drug Testing
Casino Night
That was REALLY hard to choose because all of the episodes are amazing.
Movie Review: Hilarious! Summary: 5 Stars
The Office is, quite simply, the best comedy on American television. This is one of the few American attempts to re-make a BBC comedy that has not only succeeded, but actually eclipsed the original. Season 2 picks up where the first season left off, with slacker salesman Jim still pursuing and pining for the beautiful secretary Pam, and the incomparable Regional Sales Manager of Dunder Mifflin, Michael Scott, still managing to make viewers laugh and gasp in every episode. Uber-brown noser Dwight Shrute, continues to stun and amaze every week with his lack of social skills, and a knack for embarassing foibles.
Season 2 is an excellent collection of some of the funniest television ever aired. My personal favorite is the episode where Michael burns his foot in his George Foreman grill and Dwight suffers a concussion when he rams his Camaro into a electric pole in his haste to pick up his injured manager. Dwight undergoes an amazing personality change; he becomes friendly for the day.
The Office Season 2 is a fantastic DVD collection and I would recommend it to anyone.
Movie Review: The best season by far Summary: 5 Stars
There is no point in comparing the NBC version of the Office to the BBC version. At this point in the show they are very dissimilar. However, this season contained some of the funniest episodes and moments of the show, and perhaps some of the funniest moments in "mockumentary" type humor. The show excels at awkward situations and "did he really just say that?!" lines. In addition, one of the sweetest and most popular television relationships of our time- the tale of Jim and Pam- is particularly interesting this season, as Pam and Roy finally start pinning down some wedding details and Jim makes a big choice in the season finale. Held back by trying too hard to emulate his BBC counterpart in the previous season, Steve Carrell is really given the opportunity to shine in this season as his character, Michael Scott, blossoms- or should I say, explodes. All in all this is a fantastic DVD set. The special features, including deleted scenes, outtakes, and commentaries, are a wonderful bonus.
Movie Review: Best show since Seinfeld Summary: 5 Stars
How often do you witness something someone is doing and you feel that horrible embarrassment for them? You know, that chill that goes up the spine?? Yeah, that is what this show is all about. And it's brilliant. Each character is flawless and contributes to the office environment perfectly. For those of you who complain about it being racist or prejudice or sexist or blah blah blah and because of this is insulting, well, you don't get the humor. It's what makes the show so great. You get to appreciate it even more when you work in an office environment and can relate to some of the show's situations (though perhaps not as extreme as the show). I have yet to watch the BBC version and I have heard critisism from the British version's fans...understandable. The American version is based off of the British version because of how great it was. In any case, this is still one of the top sitcoms in the last decade. Keep up the great work Steve Carrell et al!
Movie Review: Funny, sweet, endearing....simply one of the best shows on TV! Summary: 5 Stars
"The Office" is one of the most consistently funny, and at the same time, heartfelt shows I've seen in a long time. I do think that one does have to pay attention to the show while watching it in order to get most of its jokes i.e. it's not a show for casual viewing with lots of distractions in the background, which is perhaps why some have found it not to their liking. So much is said in a pause, in a subtle reaction, and what is left unspoken, that it's one of the few shows that bears re-watching many times over. Perhaps that's why The Office is one of the most recorded shows on TV, and is such a hit on iTunes. I've seen each episode at least 3 or 4 times, and there's always a joke I missed, and it's always laugh-out funny each time. And of course, Jim and Pam are probably the sweetest non-couple in TV-land right now...as another reviewer has pointed out, the season 2 finale would probably win a lot of non-fans over. Hope this review helps.
