Movie Reviews of The Neverending StoryMovie Review: Great kid movie!! Summary: 5 Stars
This movie is great. The best part is the soundtrack, you'll have the theme song stuck in your head for a while!!
The movie is a kid movie but the wolf character is a little too scary for most kids.
The horse scene is also questionable for a kid unless it's known to the kid that the horse is ok later on.
(I know kids need to learn about death & dying but it's sad when people think they have to put it in movies. Kids are going to have enough of it to deal with in real life anyway so why would you add it to a movie? Totally unnecessary in my opinion.)
Anyway, those two scenes really messed with my cousin. She was ok after she saw they were ok later in the movie but it was really hard to get her to watch the whole thing due to those scenes in the first place.
I enjoyed the movie and the soundtrack. Definitely worth buying, it's one of those movies that will keep jumping back in your thoughts out of nowhere.
Movie Review: Visit Your Friends!! Summary: 5 Stars
My best friend Nannette and I watched the NeverEnding Story every time we had a sleepover. We knew every word, all the music, we would get our popcorn ready, pile the pillows on the floor, put on our pajamas and get lost for 90 or so minutes. This movie is PURE escapism for children and adults alike. It's also a great commentary on keeping your imagination, and the power of storytelling, and being a kid at heart. "The Nothing" is scarier then any bad guy I have ever seen, How many times have I found myself going through my closets and finding a book I haven't read in forever, and sitting down to read it I realize how much I missed looking at the pictures (Grimm's fairy tales, Dr. Seuss, ElfQuest, Sweet Pickles), or the characters that are so dear to my heart (Anne of Green Gables, The Trumpeter Swan, The Xanth Series) I feel like I know them all, they are old friends, they depend on me to live , to breath, or else they are ..nothing.
Movie Review: Noah's turtle... Summary: 5 Stars
Having already reviewed The Never Ending Story on VHS, here is a sum up of the effect the dvd had! If you dwell in the realm of fantasy, or love The Lord of the Rings, then this is the next stop for you! This dvd verson of my childhood favorite is beautiful. When I visited my family the other day, we watched it. My sister said, "Thank's so much for getting The Never Ending Story on dvd, it was like re-living it the first time all over again. It took me back!" The extra's are next to nothing (no pun intended if you have seen the movie). All you get is some text and the digitally remastered trailer. This was the first American Movie from Wolfgang Peterson (Air Force One, Das Boot). Thank's so much (you know who you are) for letting me and the rest of the world know that the name Bastion screams out the window is "Moonchild!" Life long mystery discussion, set at many of suppers, now laid to rest.
Movie Review: this movie really needs a widescreen remastered version Summary: 5 Stars
I love this movie, ever since when I was a kid. The part where Atreyu being called up and he finally accept his errand, and there the awd aspiring bg music raised and that feeling is just incredible. Some years later after I first watched the movie, when I got hands on my belovable Super Nintendo and played the Final Fantasy II(as now IV on Playstation), I oddly discovered the obvious similarity emotion( listen to their music scores, especially the beginning parts of game) between the movie and video games, I think the Japanese game developers are pretty serious fan of Neverending Story.
What I'm suggesting the producer here is to make the remastered version, this DVD sucks, no widescreen, sloppy Stereo, and the video is worse than today's TV standard. This movie really deserves it, the idea that the line between reader and the book their reading getting thiner and the reader starts to get "involved" is revolutionary.
Movie Review: A Classic Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of those movies that should be included in lists of things you must have watched to be an 80's child. Almost everyone I know has seen it, and even people who claim to be too old to be interested, or just simply not interested, in the sci-fi/fantasy genre admit that they love it.Many, many years after watching it for the first time, I picked up a copy of the DVD, and realized that the movie was still fresh in my mind. The scenes, and even some of Sebastian's expressions, immediately identified themselves in memory as I watched the movie again. This doesn't happen very often with me and it must be an indication of the impact of the movie. This is a great movie and a definite must-see. Even after all these years, it's still an awesome movie. Being a fan of this genre of movie, I may be a little biased in my opinion, but as I mentioned above, you don't have to be a fan to thoroughly enjoy it.
