Movie Reviews of The Mysterians

Movie Review: A Great Toho Film
Summary: 5 Stars

I'd been waiting years to see this film, and it didn't disappoint. There should have been more of Moguera though! It includes a great score by Akira Ifukube. "The Earth Defense Force March" remains one of my favorite Ifukube themes. Extras include the original Jaanese trailer, photo and storyboard galleries, and an audio commentary. This is the uncut Japanese version, and Media Blasters created a new English dub using some familiar anime voice actors. However, I wouldn't recommend the English track, because the sound mixing leaves the music very muffled out.

Movie Review: another found classic
Summary: 5 Stars

For any TRUE fan of 50's scifi (especially the horribly dubbed japanese monster movies), this ranks right up there with Rodan, gozilla, and Mothera. It has everything you could ask for. Stereotypical Asians, miniture war machinery, giant monster, unfriendly aliens (as opposed to illegal aliens) and so much more.
The model villages, the puppets, planes on wires, flying saucers...there's too much to mention.
There's no use even thinking about this one. You must have it in your collection.

Movie Review: Originally seen in theater!
Summary: 5 Stars

If you are an adolescent boy then this is the flick for you. The effects were captivating for its time. The visual imagery of the aliens is unforgettable. The story has its inevitable conclusion but the ride it takes to get there will have you on the edge of your seat. It really is a lot of fun with ray guns, robots and the threat of kidnapped women for adult viewers. The coloring of the characters makes pleasant viewing. Enjoy!

Movie Review: Great DVD Movie
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of my favorite movies. This is the first SciFi in widesceen with surround sound. Letter box is the only way to view this. The DVD has both English and original Japanese soundtracks.

Movie Review: The 50's brought the best out of toho
Summary: 5 Stars

I've never seen this whole movie before. But I have to say on this high quality dvd. It was quite a pleasure. A great story line. A great feeling. Overall a great movie.
