Movie Review: Appreciate Effort...But Not Impressed
Summary: 3 Stars
The Mother was an interesting attempt to portray a working-class woman of a certain age (well past her prime) and the life/love/passion she still longs for. Well acted, well directed, but the writing was lacking something that could give some deeper meaning or understanding of this sad woman's life. The depression of the lead character overwhelms the film and leaves a void so that the audience can only pity this wretched woman; but never truly comprehend her pain.
