Movie Review: 91 Minutes of Fun!
Summary: 5 Stars
This movie is just fun. No, it didn't win any awards, but if you just want to sit and watch a light-hearted film with great laughs, this is it! My wife starts laughing at the opening credits. Of course if you have owned a money pit it probably helps. If the stairs, tub, carpet, and scaffolding scenes don't make you double over and fight for breath - you may be in need of CPR. After viewing this you will never hear the phrase "two weeks" again without smiling. This is a peek into the greatness that would come from Hanks. This is one of Tom's best films, directed by Richard Benjamin, and co-starring Shelly Long - a totally hysterical film with classical music and physical humor - some great one-liners, a few unexpected turns, a few classic gags. This is an annual event at our house to watch and remember our experiences buying a home and being in love. Set in New York, there's no sweeping granduer of settings or extradordinary Oscar winning dialog - but few films are as funny or as engaging to just sit and watch and have a good laugh.Movie Review: Absolutely Great!

One of the best screwball comedy/romance movies of the last 20 years. Finally on DVD after a long standing dispute with its famous director.Shelly Long gives what is likely the best performace of her career, she actually carries Tom Hanks, who also puts in a good performance.
People who dont like this movie seem to take it too seriously, not expecting screwball gags from the likes of Hanks and Long. Once you embrace this movie for what it is, every moment is pure comic genius.

This is one of my all time favorite movies to watch time and again. Tom Hanks is awesome and funny, before he started getting so serious with his movies. I've never been a huge fan of Shelley Long but she was very funny also. This movie had just enough romance in it to not make it cheesy. The renuivation of their dream house has taken a turn for the worse and if I say anything else I would be giving to much away. The funniest movie of the 80s. If you have ever purchased a fixer upper you have to see this movie. Richard Benjamin does an excellent job in following the footsteps of Mr Blandings Builds his Dream House. Tom Hanks and Shelly Long are matched perfectly and the chemistry between them is akin to Cary Grant and Myrna Loy. You will want to see this movie over and over through out the years to come. It is a classic and should be in everyones dvd library.
