Movie Reviews of The Money PitMovie Review: Not until you've renovated a house... Summary: 5 Stars
...can you truely appreciate this movie. Filling up the bath water in the fountain, falling through the floors, yes it does happen, and can all happen to you too. My wife and I did our dishes and showered in the bathtub for 2 months as it was our only working plumbing. Now that our renovation is done, as soon as the dvd is out, we plan on reliving our last year with Tom and Shelly. For any newlywed couples wanting to renovate a house, watch the movie. Contrary to what you may believe, this really is the pain you'll go through, and everything that can go wrong, will. But it's all worth it if you survive the process...
Movie Review: So accurate, it could clasify as a "documentary"! Summary: 5 Stars
Overall this picture is a must watch for anybody considering major home renovations, or just needing to laugh out loud.
Working with contractors on a scale such as this movie portrays can be an experience of a lifetime. The accuracy of the characters and the shenanagins that can occur was so real, that this picture could also be considered a doumentary. It had to be based on someone's personal experience.
A good preview for anyone looking to purhase and rehab a "fixer upper" aka handyman specials. Entertaining and Educational!

Movie Review: Highly underrated comedy Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of my favorite movies and I cannot understand why it was dismissed by critics. A lot of the comedy is slapstick, with collapsing stairs, flying Perdue chickens and "weak" trees. But in the context of rehabilitating the house, they can get away with it. This is a truly funny movie with none of the grossness that usually passes for comedy in Hollywood. And it is a must see for anybody who has ever rennovated a house. We are currently remodeling our home and use terms from the movie all the time from the "Shirk Brothers" to "anybody call a plumber?"
Movie Review: The good old days Summary: 5 Stars
Ah the 80's. Back when John Candy was alive and Tom Hanks did a string of comedies before he became all 'serious'. This is a great movie about a couple who buys an old 'fixer-upper' for a house and get in way, way over their heads. Everything needs to be redone (wiring, plumbing, etc.) and everything constantly falls apart.Shelley Long is her usual cute self. I have to admit I've had a real soft spot for her ever since Cheers. So if you want an evening to remember your favorite decade, or a family night with the kids, 'The Money Pit' is right on the money.
