Movie Review: Better than expected!

I am always devided when it comes to book to movie adaptions as alot of times they ravage the story. But overall I was plesantly surpized with this latest Stephan King story brought to celluoid. The effects are done well considering, the plot is very suspenciful (fear of the unknown), and the premise of how the mist/whats in the mist came to be is not explained but briefly suggested at and very interesting. I love movies that leave you thinking and captivated ie: 28 Days/Weeks Later and the Mist is no exception. Over all a great movie, this one will leave you captivated and looking over your shoulder and staying away from dark corners for days to come. Great Job!Movie Review: the arrowhead project

This is an awesome & classic film. It's certainly one of the best adaptations of Stephen King's works to date. In "The Mist" everything leaves you with a momentum of unease, isolation, & dread that only the formula of Stephen King could muster & director Frank Darabont has done an amazing job in bringing the story to film. Thomas Jane gives one of his best performances as the protagonist who struggles against the ever dwindling possibility of survival & the enormous scope of utter terror & madness. A truly great achievement in the horror film genre because it surpasses the genre.Movie Review: A most outstanding horror film!

I saw this movie in the theater. Not many movies keep me on edge, but this one did. Many people try to compare King's books to his movies. The simple truth: You can't! As a movie-adaptation of a novel, this might be only average to good... but as a horror film, I think it's magnificent. It pushed the right buttons for me. Scary parts were scary, sad parts were sad and funny parts were funny. The cast and special effects were all top notch, and the story did feel like a Stephen King story (though it may not have flowed exactly as the book did.) I won't get into too many details here, the adaptation is good and I was pleased with the film in total. It is very claustrophobic ala "Night of the Living Dead" replacing the farm house by a supermarket, full on glass in the front. Mist manages the suspense and the tension that increases to final climax at the end. I really recommend Mist for all completists of good SCI-FI genre and Stephen King adaptations. Acting is superb and visual effects are decent. The plot is what keeps you there wanting for more, and the final twist is unexpected. This was very different from what we are used to seeing. With that said, it was highly entertaining! The special effects were good, however it is important that they don't overshadow the story - and in this case they didn't. You could feel the tense emotion and the terrible situation the characters were in - I was wound up like a spring watching this movie and the ending. . . Think how hard it would be to be in a situation like that and to try and figure out the best way to survive - wish there could have been a diffent ending but still a GREAT
