Movie Review: Stay out of the mist....
Summary: 5 Stars
That's right! When the mist rolls in--any mist--you better stay indoors and hide in the closet because you don't know what's out there! When a military experiment goes horribly wrong, some of the residents of a small, Maine town are trapped in a supermarket and ultimately have to defend themselves from monstrous creatures or die. Yet one by one they do die until one man takes his small son and four other people into his SUV and makes a wild attempt to flee. As a writer and a habitual viewer of the macabre I preferred Stephen King's ending in his novella but like the movie ending or not you will be glued to the edge of your seat at the suspense, the horror and the excellent special effects. It is incumbent upon me to post a review about this movie. How tame and idyllic it began, with beautiful scenery and a generic storm and it's aftermath of destruction. How quickly things can depart from the norm. In the course of mere minutes, a very disturbing, yet believable presentation of horrror, both of monster and of man in his baser mindset, splattered across the surface of my HDTV. This cinematic effort has indeed been a reminder of all that is creative and chilling about Stephen King. This is the stuff that true nightmares are made of!
I say well done to those who made "The Mist" a reality!

Movie Review: Took me totally by surprise

There are a lot of well written, in depth reviews of this film already here. I just wanted to chime in and say that it met my ultimate criteria: it held my interest and made me care about what happened next. I agree there were no clever plot twists, but the acting of every single person was so committed and realistic that I couldn't stop watching. This was one of those flicks where a friend just put it on and said "Let's watch this, I think you might like it", and he was absolutely right. I think it probably helped that I knew nothing about it before he popped it in. I did not expect the ending, but I agree that it worked. All in all, a good story, well told, with superior supporting acting.Movie Review: Horrifying! Shocking! Message about Faith?

This is what movies are all about! It's gripping, suspenseful, eerie. I rent movies and easily get distracted if the movie is boring or stupid. This movie was so worth watching, I preferred to hold my piss until the movie was finished. I didn't even know my wife was sitting next to me during the film. I highly recommend it to anybody. The ending is shocking, however, the movie has a message and not just a brainless sci-fi thriller with cool special effects. Great cinematography, excellent casting, and pretty original. I read some negative reviews here but I'm afraid this movie was actually a lot better than what I read. Thanks Stephen King because now I want to buy it. when i first rented this movie i was wary of it because i had heard iffy reviews of it when it had showed in the theaters. that just proves that like music or books , everyone has their own tastes. this movie is an amazing example of how stephen king's literature grabs u by the throat and doesnt let go until ur begging for ur nightmare to be over , normally the movie adaptions of his short stories or novels are less than great AKA DREAMCATCHERS
but sometimes like this and Children Of The Corn
it completely embodies the writing
ah....this man is a genius , and should be treated as so :)
