Movie Reviews of The Man From Planet XMovie Review: The Man From Planet X (1951)-Sci FI Gold. Summary: 3 Stars
Despite its age The Man from Planet X (1951) actually holds up pretty well for me. As a five or six year old kid I first saw this movie by myself on my grandfather's TV and the scene through the space craft window really frightened me. I suppose all fans remember that incredible scene on the moors. It must be admitted that the wording of the script and acting were on the poor side, but pretty standard for old sci-fi. I recently saw it once again on a remarkably clear rented DVD. I decided after screening it to buy a copy from Amazon for my sci-fi collection. It rates only three stars today, but I must add it to my DVD collection of sci-fi gold. The key phrase is "low budget", but think about how much was spent on the recent remake of the Day the Earth Stood Still that could have been invested in about a million entertaining low budget thrillers.
Movie Review: Fun flick Summary: 3 Stars
While i have to define this movie as cheesy, i mean it in the nicest way. This film was about as low budget a shoot as ive seen and yet it is well acted enough to make it a pretty good watch. As Planet X approaches the Earth a space ship arrives with a strange visitor. Due to abuse at the hands of a rather crazy scientist we never know if the stranger would have been friendly given nicer treatment. After escaping his tormenter the alien begins preperations to help his race take over earth. Not a classic but a fun movie to enjoy.
Movie Review: Battlefield Scotland... Summary: 3 Stars
The mysterious planet-x swoops into telescope range, getting scottish scientists excited. Amazingly, an alien craft lands in the fog-covered countryside, occupied by a strange visitor with a giant head sporting rather stylish gardening gloves. My one complaint is the small amount of screen time for the title character. This results in a lot of talk, little action, and vast patches of dullness. Still, as a 50s sci-fi epic, TMFPX isn't completely terrible...
Movie Review: I learn something from this Sci-Fi film. Summary: 3 Stars
I was 11 years old, but I had wondered "how would you talk to someone from an advanced race if you had no common language". This film was not the best of sci-fi flicks, but it was the first film, that explained how you would do it. I learned something that day, that would stay with me forever. It is worth watching at least once.
Movie Review: Scarey Alien Summary: 2 Stars
I haven't seen this one yet, but from what I understand, the Alien bears an uncanny resemblance to the Kid From Deliverance. Now THAT's worth watching!
