Movie Reviews of The Maldonado MiracleMovie Review: nice family movie, also good for parish use Summary: 4 Stars
Good for a family movie night at church! That's how we used it! There was no cursing or other 'bad words' in the movie.
Movie Review: The Maldonado Miracle Summary: 3 Stars
A good first attempt at directing from Salma Hayek. I look forward to her next film with great anticipation. This, film, however has some tough boots to fill if you compare it against other "miracle" movies - namely, "The Miracle of Marcelino" or "Marcelino Pan Y Vino" which to me is still the best. Also, Peter Fonda, while believable as the small town priest, fails to put enough emotion in the roll (at times) which seems to keep the movie down in some parts. Luckily, Ruben Blades and Mare Winningham give great performances and keep you interested in the film's final outcome. Again, for a first attempt, Salma has shown that women can make excellent directors! My final opinion for this movie? It's a nice rental for you and the family though I doubt many of you will add it to your DVD collections - but keep in mind that my opinion has been tainted by viewing other movies like "Marcelino".
Movie Review: :( Summary: 1 Stars
While the story kept my interest somewhat, I disliked the "message."
*SPOILERS*
If the blood on the crucifix actually turned out to be the boy's blood, the story would have been much better. However, it turned out not to be, and therefore was supposed to be a miracle. At this time, God doesn't work through such miracles, as far as I know, so this was a disappointing movie.
There was also swearing and some immodest clothing.
