Movie Reviews of The Long Walk HomeMovie Review: An Epic Movie Summary: 5 StarsTheir forbidden friendship changed a nation. Two women, black and white, in 1955 Montgomery Alabama, must decide what they are going to do in response to the famous bus boycott lead by Martin Luther King. An all-star performance from the entire cast. The emotions were so clear and vivid, I felt like I was actually living this event with them. This movies displays the sturggles as us Americans had to overcome. Not only with the African-American's but the women's role in life as well. Sissy Spacek as Miriam Thompson, plays a great "speak when asked" housewife. She goes through major changes in this movie. Whoppe Goldberg, is playing one of her best roles ever. The calm neutrality she has when she gets slander after slander. Lexi Randel as Mary Catherine, is a remarkable. She plays a child taking in all of the events that happen, and to not forget this when she is older. To learn from these events. The rest of the cast all adds to the great movie.
Movie Review: A wake up call to all who watch this film. Summary: 5 StarsI cried like a baby at the end of the movie! Though it was told with a child's words and from the perspective of the white family, this movie was really about everyone, regardless of color. Anyone seeing this will surely rethink the lines of prejudice in their lives and how it impacts everyone. This was Whoopie Goldberg's best work since the days of her stand up comedy routines. And who DOESN'T enjoy seeing Ving Rhames? This is one POWERFUL movie. It will make every Afican-American want to sit in the front of the bus.
Movie Review: Best movie that I have seen about the bus boycott Summary: 5 StarsThis movie really touched me. It really gave you a feeling of what these people involved were going through (on both sides of the fence). Every other film dealing with the bus boycott is all about Rosa Parks, and when that happens you really don't get a real sence of what the boycott was really like. This is one of the only films about the bus boycott that dosn't have the name "Rosa Parks" strewn through out the whole movie. Two Thumbs Up, Way up!
Movie Review: A great film about the true heroes of the Civil Rights Mov't Summary: 5 StarsThe Long Walk home is a stunning tribute to the individual women and men who contributed to the stugggle for human rights in 1950's America. This film brings to life Dr. King's belief that the true heroes of the civil rights movement were the people who were willing to make sacrifices in order that all could enjoy freedom. Each year, I show this film to my students at Holy Trinity Diocesan High School, Hicksville,NY. Its portrayal of the Montgomery Bus Boycott reminds us that empowered people can, and do, make a difference and that social change never happens by itself.
Movie Review: For all who struggle for equality and acceptance Summary: 5 StarsNo need for me to say more than just read Maltin's review. On this one he is right on.
