Movie Reviews of The Long Walk Home

Movie Review: Truly a moving experience
Summary: 5 Stars

Not only have I seen this movie (several times), but I had the privilege to be a part of the cast ( in a minor way). To live through the making, and to witness the final process only reinforced the truly remarkable presentation of the reality of Montgomery (and many parts of our country) in the 1950's. The movie spent a considerable time on the shelf waiting for the right time to release, then had the misfortune to follow Mississippi Burning's release, which received significant press. The Long Walk Home, with its' poignant reminders of everyday life, puncuated by the violence of the underside of society, hits home with a message that needs to be heard again and again.

Movie Review: A heartfelt film w/Whoopi
Summary: 3 Stars

This was a great film showing the true struggles of the common man during the Civil Rights movement. On one end it showed that people can be really ignorant but on the other end it demonstrated that people CAN change for the better and not all hope is lost. This film should also serve as a reminder to students like myself that we are very fortunate for the amount of tolerance we have today. Not only did famous protesters like Rosa Parks make a difference, but the "little" voices of everyday people like Odessa Cotter was vital to the movement. This movie was on to remember and im glad my teacher selected such a good film. Whoopi Goldberg is also my favorite actress in the whole wide world.

Movie Review: Portrayal Of History
Summary: 4 Stars

After watching the movie, The Long Walk Home, I looked back and realized how enjoyable and knowledgable it was. Even though it has some sketchy scenes that may be offensive, it gives the movie more realistic characteristics. I had the opportunity to watch this movie in my Christian Morality class at my school, and I feel that it was a good example to use to express ideas of morality. (Hint: good for teaching teens about concepts of morality for all of you teachers). In general, it gave me the sense of what things were like back then, and it took you into the life of a black person trying to be and equal in a country that would not except her. The Long Walk home illustrates how one radicalist is willing to go against everyone just to do what is right. In the end, a bond is formed between people of two different worlds. Please consider this movie, because it's a good way to educate everyone about our countries history.

Movie Review: The Long Walk Home
Summary: 5 Stars

This story really captured the strong points of the racism that went on in the time period. It really opened up my eyes to the utter volgarity and other things that went on. How people were treated and how things have changed for the better. It's a great movie

Movie Review: A Truly Heartwarming Movie
Summary: 4 Stars

I saw this movie in my morality class. I was not expecting such a gem. This movie made me realize the hardships that those African Americans living in the south had to go through. The movie made me realize that even one person who belives in their heart that something is wrong with their society can change it. This is an excellent movie and I encourage all to watch it. You will be hard pressed to find such a heartwarming, compassonate movie.
