Movie Reviews of The Lone Gunmen - The Complete SeriesMovie Review: Another great show cancelled by FOX Summary: 5 StarsDon't let its early demise fool you, The Lone Gunmen is a great series that flawlessly balanced dangerous missions with quirky humor. Lighter in mood and tone than the X-Files, the gunmen are perfectly cast as idealistic, paranoid, and fearless journalists ever searching for the truth. This DVD has some nice extras, although the commentary is a bit teasing as the actors keep mentioning deleted scenes and bloopers that they hope made the DVD--unfortunately there are no deleted scenes or bloopers in this collection, but the series is funny enough without it. The storylines, music, and guest stars, which include a few X-Files alums, are all brilliant. As for my favorite part, that would be Dean Haglund (who plays my favorite gunman, Langly) giving his own theory on whether or not the gunmen may be back.
Movie Review: X-Files: THE EXPANSION PACK Summary: 4 StarsThe comic relief of X-Files (not to mention the series' homage to us nerds and geeks that constituted its core fan-base) finally got their own series.
It started with the best of intentions - but you know what they say about exactly those paving the road to hell...
Bad and unimaginative writing, this is the story of a TV series left to roll on its hyped momentum. It did not roll far.
Another proof that the Best TV is ALWAYS based on great writing. Missing that, nothing can save a series.
Rent it for the memories. A fun weekend.
Movie Review: Awful scriptwriting, a disappointment Summary: 1 StarsTook a chance on this since I enjoyed the Lone Gunmen on X-Files, but what a disappointment.
Don't bother to order. A waste of money.
Movie Review: The Lone Gunmen Not Alone In TV Land Summary: 5 StarsThese guys were very funny and I dont think the writer should have stopped the series because of 9/11
I think Chris Carter should again start this series on TV or at least make a movie.. same with The X-Files
Movie Review: They Were Interesting Sidekicks for Fox Mulder Summary: 3 StarsThe Lone Gunmen was a nice spin off of the X-files that fans should have enjoyed for what it was worth. If you were an X-Files fan and own the entire X-Files collection of box sets you should own this one as well. The short series made an excellent transfer to DVD.
I especially enjoyed when (during an X-Files episode) Mulder introduced Scully to the Lone Gunman as "self appointed government watchdogs" that had spookier ideas than his. They certainly lived up to his introduction in both the X-Files episodes in which they appeared and their short lived TV series of their own.
I really enjoyed these guys who represent the young generation of expert computer "geeks" haunting and hunting the world wide web. Don't we all know someone who resembles at least one of these guys?
