Movie Reviews of The Living Sea (IMAX) (2-Disc WMVHD Edition)Movie Review: Great...but room for improvement Summary: 4 StarsI thoroughly enjoyed this film in the IMAX theater, but I was disappointed by the visible compression artifacts when viewing this on an HD-ready projection TV with a progressive-scan DVD player. When I saw the "Blue Planet" DVD, I had hoped all IMAX transfers would be as clean and beautiful, but this one wasn't as well done. The sound is wonderful, however, so if you don't have a larger screen TV but have a great surround system, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Movie Review: Imax at it's Best Summary: 5 StarsThis is the reason I buy Imax films. The movie has a series of semi quick hit's on different subjects involeing the sea. This is eye candy at it best. I am not a big Sting fan but his score really hit's the mark in this film and is a big plus. The story is not deep but very enjoyable. You get the feeling that the people whole made it really love the sea. They give you more than a few thrills with the photography. There is a wow scene with thousand's of jelly fish. The surfing shot's were great and will really give your sound system a work out. This is a Imax film that goes for the visual's and the sound. The stories are brief but not preachy. It is not a Imax film that tell's a dumb story at the expence of the sceneary. In this film they go for the thrill and show there love for the sea.
Movie Review: Disappointed Summary: 1 StarsJust wanted to say how disappointing the DVD was. I found the editing "jumpy", the narration boring (Sorry Meryl) and the overall content lacking. A (any) National Geographic or Jacques Cousteau movie/video/DVD is FAR superior. Just a no-biggie DVD.
Movie Review: One of the reasons to buy DVD Summary: 4 StarsOne of the biggest reasons that I began purchasing DVD's was to get the IMAX titles. As always, the beautiful cinematography combined with an outstanding soundtrack and commentary, makes this a gread DVD. Anyone with a fascination for biology, or science in general, will definitely love this one.>o'
Movie Review: The Wonder of Nature Summary: 5 StarsI havent actually seen the DVD. I saw this in a local cinema numerous times I love this documentry, all be it that it is a bit Over 'American'But the reason that prompted me to write was the comment earlier about 'only true sting fans will fully appreciate the sound track' I actually disliked stings music but think the music compliments the movie wonderfully so much so that every time i hear a track used, a shiver goes up my spine and i appreciate once more some of the wonderfull footage. I dont know if this will work as well on a DVD as an IMax screen but it certainly will be entertaining and informative
