Movie Reviews of The Little Drummer BoyMovie Review: Christmas favorite Summary: 5 Stars
When I was a little boy, Christmas time was never complete until I had the opportunity to see "The Little Drummer Boy" on TV. Now that it's out on DVD I don't have to wait to see it on TV. That's right, I still consider it a pinnacle of my Christmas traditions. It's a beautiful, but sad story about a little boy who loses his parents in a house fire deliberately set by some roaving thieves. He, along with his camel and sheep, teams up with a wondering junk dealer and low and behold winds up being at the stable in Bethlehem on the night of The Savior's birth. Since he lost everything he owned in the house fire, he decides as a gift for the new born King he would play his drum. Again, this is a beautiful story that leaves me in tears each time I watch it.
Movie Review: Best Movie out there for Toddlers to Understand Jesus' Birthday Summary: 5 Stars
I have a three year old, and a five year old. They got this movie today in the mail, and have watched it twice now. They love it! It makes sense on a level that they can understand. The story clearly describes the birth of Jesus Christ, and the true meaning of Christmas. I love the fact that the dialog and narration include actual Biblical scripture.(KJV) Wish I had seen this movie when I was a kid. Grew up in a Christian home, and understood the holiday, but not at the same age as my girls now do. Movie was made by the same company and in the same style as the Burl Ives Rudolph movie with the puppets. Already a Christmas favorite to be watched with all the other holiday favorites years from now!
Movie Review: A RANKIN/BASS Classic Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of the BEST RANKIN/BASS Specials! It is heartwarming and shows the true spirit of CHRISTMAS. Don't let anyone tell you that the material is too harsh for young children and it is still on TV during the Holidays. This newest version of the DVD does not have the name RANKIN/BASS on the front cover as it should. CLASSIC MEDIA should be ashamed of themselves. This particular DVD also does not have the 35 mm print BUT this 16 A & B roll will have to suffice for now, since they have not found the 35mm print. I Highly Recommend this DVD and I Highly Recommend that CLASSIC MEDIA/SONY WONDER give the proper credit on the next edition of this DVD.
Movie Review: A very highly recommended addition Summary: 5 Stars
The collaborative work of Katherine Davis, Henry Onorati and harry Simeone, "The Little Drummer Boy" is delightful retelling of a classic Christmas story and song wonderfully combined with the glowing, full-color illustrations of Ezra Jack Keats and the iconic music and vocals of John Jennings in superbly produced, flawlessly recorded, six-minute DVD format. A very highly recommended addition to family, school, and community library Christmas DVD collections, "The Little Drummer Boy" is also available from Weston Woods in a Paperback/CD format (NPCD124, $18.95) and a Paperback/Cassette format (NPRA124, $14.95).
Movie Review: Great movie! Summary: 5 Stars
"The Little Drummer Boy" is a movie about a little boy who, because of a tragic event in his life, develops anger and hatred towards others. It is a movie about the power of love and how love conquers hatred. The movie includes animals (for children who love them :) and delightful music. The ending of the movie is very well done. The music combined with the narration and the delicate portrayal of the young boy's transformation at the end of the movie makes for a very moving and heartfelt movie.
