Movie Reviews of The Lion King 2 - Simba's Pride (2-Disc Special Edition)

Movie Review: Very worthy sequel
Summary: 5 Stars

I enjoyed this sequel. The songs are enjoyable. I like the songs "He Lives in You," "My Lullaby," and "One of Us." Plus the story is a sweet one. The romance between Kovu and Kiara is sweet. Also, the story is dramatic. This second film is darker and grimmer than the first film. It does have some funny parts, though, provided by Timon and Pumbaa and also by Nuka. I also like the bonus feature "Proud of Simba's Pride," which is a backstage behind-the-scenes look at the making of the movie. It's good even though it's really short.

I'm a big "Lion King" fan and I was pleasantly surprised back in 1998 to find out they were making a sequel. I was diagnosed with cancer before this film came out, and it provided me with a means of escaping my illness. I really ejoyed the movie and hopefully you will, too.

Movie Review: The Lion King 2
Summary: 4 Stars

Excellent family fare - our family(ages 70-3) sat glued to the set the first time around. By the 3rd time around only the three year old was still requesting it.

Movie Review: wonderfully made
Summary: 4 Stars

Simba's pride is a great sequel to the lion king this movie is one of the best sequels and you normally dont get many of them.

Movie Review: One of The Best Disney Sequals
Summary: 4 Stars

I was very impressed with this sequal. I'm usually not very impressed with disney sequals, but this one was actually pretty entertaining. It had very good music, which is very rare for a Disney sequal. I liked the music so much that I bought the CD. The storyline is also resonable. One of the better things is the animation which is also very good. Overall this was one of Disneys best sequals, and that is why I gave it 4 stars.

Movie Review: Can't come close to the original!!
Summary: 3 Stars

Although the music is pretty good (I believe it still doesn't compare with the first score), this film falls short of being a worthy continuation of The Lion King (I won't mention Lion King 1/2 because it is in no way serious enough for me to consider it as good). The songs are strange, the characters are melancholy and mainly flat (including Andy Dick, who is a very disturbing, unloved lion in the opposing pride), and the plot line is confusing.

It is supposed to be taking place after Simba's cub has grown up, into Kiara, a rebellious young lioness. She ends up meeting Kovu, a lion raised to hate Simba's pride by the opposing pride who lives on the outlands. The story behind them is that they were the lionesses supporting Scar (although I never saw one lioness fighting AGAINST Simba in first the movie) and were banished for it. Kovu is, apparently, not Scar's child, but he looks exactly like him. He and Kiara end up finding common ground, much to the anger of both of their parents.

"We Are One" which is sung by Simba, along with the opening "He lives in you" are the only good songs. The animation is sub-par. I was very disappointed with this sequel and feel it can't even barely compete with The Lion King.
