Movie Review: THE LIBERTINE
Summary: 5 Stars
I saw this film 8 times at the Cinema and found it extremely well portrayed especially Lord Rochester played by Johnny Depp. He is truely one of the best Actors we have of this modern age. Although I like his films like Pirates, films like The Libertine and The Man Who Cried shows him for his true acting. The reason for my buying the Region 1 copy of The Libertine is because I needed to see all the extras and sadly our R2 copies leave off all these. The extras are excelent especially as they show the locations where the film was made, as part of it was filmed at Montacute House which is 4 miles from where I live in the UK. I am really grateful be able to buy this DVD from yourselves, as it is one of my favourite films.Movie Review: Heed Sir Depp's Warning!!!

Definately not for the prudish for you especially 'will not like him'. Not a first date night movie either. 4-letter words abound but not in a effing this and effing that way. They are used in a sexual manner that will make you squirm if you are not completely comfortable with your viewing partner. It's bawdy poetry at it's best! (or worst, depending on how you look at it!)
Seriously though, what an amazing performance by one of the most talented actors in our time. All of the supporting roles were equally as impressive. A must see for the adult yearning to witness what the Earl of Rochester did for 16th century theatre in Europe.
Highly recommended.
Movie Review: The Royal Finger Beckons

I didn't know what to expect from this movie, but am now more than happy I opted to buy rather than rent since I have watched it twice and will probably do so again in the near future.
The day after seeing it the feeling stuck with me. Cold, dark, foggy. For a movie to do that it is well delivered. The musical score ran thru my head the entire next day also.
I would have liked more on the actual history of Wilmot ie, his military background, family history etc. But will take the story as delivered.
Depp was great. He delivered in my opinion the best of his career to date. "You will not like me?" I am sorry but I did. I file this along side my favorites.
Movie Review: Johnny Depp SHINES!!!

Johnny Depp gave a performance worthy of Oscar in this film. He went from absolutely gorgeous to the complete opposite and played each scene with extreme intensity. I know he's a great actor but oh my! Without a doubt one of, if not THE best performances I've ever witnessed from Johnny Depp. Most women who see this movie will cringe or be repulsed by the actions of the poet being portrayed here but, I just couldn't turn away and have since watched this movie three times. I purchased it less than a week ago. Very fine film and excellent acting on the part of Johnny Depp. I do hope he will delight us with more films of this caliber. I get bored easily with predictable plots, and vapid acting. I find Hollywood's standard drivel to be beyod contemptable.
I will own this film shortly. It an astounding piece of work, front to back, beginning to end. Not a weak actour among them,not a set that couldn't be exactly where they tell you it should be. A Tour De Force that all who participated in should be proud of for the rest of their days.
Do not walk into this expecting some heartthrob pin-up. This is a heavy, hard hitting, humourous and brutally honest story, told by true professionals at their peak.
I do not watch movies. This one I will watch over and over.
