Movie Review: Simply Awful!

No wonder alot of people don't know about this anime series. I would love to keep it a secret but I have to share my rotten experiance with my friends. I have to let them know that I suffered so they don't have to. But if you're one of my anime friends who are easily pleased, buy this asap. The Legend of Black Heaven is an awful series. I was intrigued by the concept "Hard Rock Saves Space". Unfortunately something was saved but it wasn't this series.
The main character Oji Tanaka is an ex-rocker wrapped up in his mediocre life. He recieves a visit at his job by a co worker that reveals to be fighting a battle in space. In order for them to win the battle and keep the earth from being destroyed in the process. They need him to grab his guitar and rock out, later he reunites with his old band. The sound provides energy for them to use their "ultimate weapon". Man, the story is corny thinking about it now. I wonder what possessed me to watch this.
This is not an anime to take serious. The wacky opening episode makes this very clear and I could live with that. But when you're not feeling the characters or story by the third episode then something is very wrong. With the exception of the main character. The characters are very annoying and lack any type of charisma. The most annoying bunch get a large amount of screen time and never contribute to the overall story at all. The enemies are never explored for one second. They are just there with ships blasting away.
The plot, I can't remember the last time I seen so much filler. And for a 13 episode series that is not good. Lots of things take place that never furthers the story. For an anime, that is about the music and space battles. You don't get enough of neither. The same songs are played for the most part and the battles are very boring. More time should have been dedicated to the band putting together more songs and the villians at least being introduced.
The animation is average at best and it's hurt by countless stills. A few scenes the main character is walking together with his family in public. And the people look like mannequins in a department store. The animation is that pathetic. And this is also the case with the space battles. The battles really didn't get any better until the last episode. And it still sucked. If the series had a weak budget, then it should have been scrapped.
I wish I knew what the blue he11 the 5 star reviewers saw in this weak driveling nonsense. If I never had a reason to not trust anime reviews on amazon, then I have one now. I think the coolest thing about this show is when the band named their ship Zappa. Other than that there's nothing here. I only recommend buying this if you saw it and liked it. Or just hate my reviews and think I just don't have any taste. If it's a rock anime that you're interested in seeing. I highly recommend Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad.
