Movie Reviews of The Last of the Mohicans (Director's Expanded Edition)

Movie Review: Breathtaking & Brilliant
Summary: 5 Stars

had to watch this in my History of Imperial Britain class, and enjoyed it so much I stopped at Best Buy after class to buy it.

For a movie to be really, truly enjoyable for me, it has to have an amazing love story. And this one blows many other movie romances out of the water. Nathaniel's declaration to cora abou finding her no matter how long it takes just sends chills down my spine. The romance is beautifully acted and perfectly written. It's not over the top or unrealistic., its absolutely perfect.

Even without the romance, I would still enjoy this movie. The acting s superb by everyone. Even the characters you want to dislike (for me thats Magua and Col. Munro), you still understand their motivations for doing what they're are doing.

The scenery is breathtaking. As a North Carolina native, I feel a hint of pride at seeing ow beautiful parts of the state are.

Its a wonderful movie, and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Movie Review: The Last of the Mohicans
Summary: 5 Stars

With director Michael Mann setting a rapid pace for the story, the movie, equal parts action and romance, takes hold of the audience and never lets go. The always intense Day-Lewis makes a riveting, energetic Hawkeye, and Stowe is luminous as love interest Cora. And Mann's roaring, brilliantly orchestrated battle scenes complete a winning formula.

Movie Review: Outstanding remake of a classic
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie was very well done and had my attention from the beginning. I get all rapped up with tales of the frontier, the first wars, and relationships with new cultures the the first settlers faced as they moved west from the original colonies. I believe this film is not only a must see, but a must buy.

Movie Review: Get the VHS
Summary: 3 Stars

I watched this movie in the theater when it first came
out. I bought the VHS when it came out.
I loved the movie, the music, and the action. The scenery
is breathtaking and the movie flowed very well with superb
performances by almost everyone.
When the DVD came out I wanted to get the better picture
and audio effect. The Cinematography is breathtaking.
The clearness of the scenes is great.

I was disappointed by the cuttings in the Director's
"Expanded Edition". To much was cut and not enough
was added. The VHS cinematography is close to the DVD.
You have more continuity in the movie, and don't have to
listen to Russell Means (usually brillant) ramble at the
end and make the final moments of great emotion into a
a rambling.

Save your money and stick with the VHS.

Movie Review: Moving
Summary: 5 Stars

I never tire of watching this spectacular movie and enjoyed seeing the expanded version. I was surprised at how well I know the movie and was aware of all the changes.

Thank you for the visual beauty, haunting music and passionate story.
