Movie Reviews of The Lady in WhiteMovie Review: Kid's Ghost Movie, Adults Please Don't Waste Your Time! Summary: 1 Stars
I was so excited to see this movie after all the praise given to it by reviewers on amazon. Unfortunately, it was one of the worst horror movies I have ever seen. In fact, I don't think I've ever been as dissapointed by a movie as I was with Lady in White. I will tell you why.
First, let's start with the storyline: typical. You know the plot so I won't waste your time. Kid sees a ghost, tries to solve the mystery of who killed her. The special effects were laughable. I realize this film was made a while ago, but the special effects in this film were THE WORST. So many people claim in their reviews that the "cloakroom" scene is really scary. PLEASE! It was so cheesy, my girlfriend and I were laughing through the entire thing. At no point in this movie was I the LEAST bit scared.
Also, the acting is extremely cheesy for the most part, again because I think it is geared toward children. Finally, the soundtrack completely kills the movie in that it literally feels like the music was lifted from a Charlie Brown Halloween Special. I'm not exaggerating. Everytime you think something scary is going to happen, this childish music comes in and completely ruins whatever little atmosphere this movie posesses, reaffirming once again that this film is meant for children, not adults.
So, maybe when my son is around 7 or 8 I will show him this movie on Halloween, and I'm not even sure if it will scare him. Please, if you are an adult and enjoy ghost stories/horror movies, avoid this film at all costs. Instead, check out some other great ghost stories like The Others, The Shining, Poltergeist, and Burnt Offerings. I'm sorry I wasted my money on this; just goes to show you that sometimes amazon reviewers don't know what they're talking about.
